Morning.

I'm 20 weeks ish, second baby. This week I'm so tired I could lie down and sleep. Not working just chasing Dd twenty months.

It occurred to me this morning I needed iron supplements with Dd.

Appointment this time are scarce. I've only had 12 week scan. 20 week not till next Friday, at 21.

Wondering if I should call and ask for blood test or just leave till next week.

Any experience? Thanks.

Just get some iron supplements? That's what I'd do, I wouldn't expect to see someone face to face for a blood test under current circumstances.

I'd get in touch with the midwife and she should be able to send you for a blood test or recommend something for you to take. It was only the sonographers at my 20 week scan and no bloods (no idea if it's different in different trusts).

They will have tested your iron levels at your booking appointment.
I'd just buy some gentle iron tablets and take them with a small glass of orange juice

I would speak to your midwife - it’s absolutely what she’s there for.

Over the counter iron supplements usually aren’t sufficient to resolve an iron deficit, so it’s worth getting them prescribed in the correct dose. A midwife can also give you specific information on the side effects that are most likely to affect you, like constipation.

I didn't have a booking appointment. I've never seen a midwife.

I'm trying not to get wound up because I appreciate the current climate but I feel a little missed.

I'm consultant led and should have had two consultant appointments by now, both cancelled and her secretary called me and gave me a section date.

Happy just to buy some but wondered if I should be getting blood checked. Might call GP and ask him, he's always been kind.

Thank you. Feeling. Bit low.

It's very worrying that you haven't seen a midwife at all by 20 weeks!

I'm 24 weeks, I've seen a midwife twice, 2 scans and a telephone appointment.

If they've done no blood tests then how will they have tested for Down's syndrome etc.

I'd call your midwives office and ask when you'll be seeing someone.

@PregnantAndTiredMum that was done by sonographer at 12 week scan and blood was taken for that. That's the only appointment I have had and only blood that has been taken.

I left various messages for community midwife for booking appointment and got no reply so made a scan appointment at EPU and have gone from there. Was told community midwife would be in touch but has not. Have left one further message.
