Nausea

Is it “normal” to feel quite a lot of nausea at only 3+5?
This is how I kinda knew I was pregnant because it’s just an odd and hideous feeling but also suffering the same symptoms as my pregnancy a couple of months ago

Never heard of using gaviscon for morning sickness sorry so check NHS advise online. That's nice he's looking out for you! Well I hear nausea peeks at 9 weeks then gets better from 12 weeks. Maybe you'll be lucky and feel better sooner? I've had my last snack of the day so gotta get to bed before my tummy empties again! It's a race against the clock. Sleep well if poss x

@ChatWithMe
He went out to get some Gaviscon because my goodness, I realised I had the worst heartburn.
I’d never had it before but I chewed 2 tablets and it made me feel better. Once the heartburn went, all I could feel was the nausea so it was another tough night sleeping.
Did you manage to sleep well?
I took my last CB digital this morning and it’s jumped up to 2-3 weeks which I’m so happy about x

So your HCG is somewhere between 153 and 2753. I reckon mid range based on early nausea. I got those numbers from a clear blue leaflet online for a 2-3 week reading. You're definitely on the right track!

Glad the tablets helped but too bad the nausea kept you awake. Nausea keeps me awake initially but if I keep my eyes open and focus on something like the window after a while it goes and then I fall asleep. I have vivid dreams. I wonder if pregnancy increases the amount of time I spend in REM sleep.

Good luck for today at work x

Chicken123 · 06/08/2020 09:39

@ChatWithMe
Oh really? I didn’t even know the leaflet gives you that information. That’s good to know as a rough idea! I hope I’m going along the right track.
Taking every day as it comes and trying to not worry.
How’re you feeling this morning?

Yeah, it’s hideous, but that’s really good that focusing on something helps and you’re able to sleep. Do you? To be honest, I’ve been dreaming quite a lot but I don’t know if they’re ‘vivid’ or not. I just know I’m dreaming every night which is so unlike me.

Ah, thank you! You have a good day too! X

Well not much to report. Felt nauseous and lethargic all day long. Also breathless when busy doing something especially handling my son. He's 12kg so kinda heavy when I feel utterly exhausted. He's charming though so all worth it.

Yes sounds like your sleep is more dream heavy than normal too. Pregnancy must affect the mum's brain in some way besides the usual nausea and lethargy.

Please let me know how your first day back at work went x

Chicken123 · 06/08/2020 19:29

Oh bless you @ChatWithMe

How’re you feeling this evening?

I’ve been the same to be honest but the tiredness really hits me about 6/7pm which is annoying because when I do late shifts (like today), I finish at 10 so still have a couple hours left😭
Also started getting heartburn again after eating my dinner but luckily I brought the tablets with me so they’ve eased it off. Also find this time in the evenings is where I become dizzy too. So bizarre!

I just want to get home to bed before having to come back here for 7.30 tomorrow😢 x

I'm hanging in there. I managed to clean the bathroom and change the bed linen so it's been a productive day.

I feel for you. I used to work three 12 hour night shifts in a row as a nurse occasionally and that's rough even when no pregnancy or illness. At least you get to go to bed tonight. Sounds like you won't manage 8 hours though. How many shifts in a row are you working?

Chicken123 · 06/08/2020 20:18

Oh that’s good! I’ve found that if I’m at home and I get up and showered and dressed and do some chores I feel better. Nothing better than fresh bedding!
Urgh, brutal! I’m only part time 30 hours and have every other weekend off so only today and tomorrow this week then have the weekend off.
Shift pattern varies every week so.

Yeah, deffo won’t get that much sleep tonight. That’s what I’m struggling with at the moment, the symptoms affecting my sleep at night x

I'm not sure what's worse - nausea or heat wave. I hope to fall asleep despite these baking temperatures. That's great you're off this weekend. I'll be grateful when it gets a bit cooler so I can just complain about the nausea! Good night x

@Chicken123 @ChatWithMe - hope you don't mind me hopping on here. You don't know how happy I am to have just read your posts ... I'm going out of my mind!!! I am only 7dpo but have had nausea since 3dp...is this even normal? I haven't done any tests because I'm so early but it's getting a little stronger each day and I know it's not in my head. I suffered hyperemesis several years ago and it's the same feeling but it didn't come on this early. Can I ask when u both start feeling sick? XX

bunhead34 · 25/08/2020 11:12

Can I join too please!
I am 6+5 and feeling terrible! I have bad nausea and no energy.
I did get some cyclizine from the dr for the sickness so worth asking for that if you're really struggling! It helps but doesn't get rid of it completely

ChatWithMe · 28/08/2020 22:19

Sorry to hear you guys are feeling nauseous early on. Mine started at 4 weeks pregnant so I guess 14dpo? Not sure as it was as IVF so just know 5 day blastocyst transferred day 17 of my cycle. There's a hyperemesis thread on the pregnancy board that's a good source of support. I don't access Mumsnet much anymore after an unpleasant experience on here. So this thread isn't the best place to get help with your symptoms. I hope you guys are both ok and feel better soon x
