Hospital lost scan images - need a rescan

I have just had a phone call from the local maternity unit (I am 21 weeks pregnant) and said they have lost some of the images from my anomaly scan last week of the baby's heart and could I go back for another scan tomorrow.

They said everything was fine but they need the images on record.

Has this happened to anyone else? I've never heard of it before from friends/relatives and it's making me worry that something is wrong and they're not telling me.

They said everything was fine with the baby at my scan last week. Could they have found something afterwards and need me back in?

It's likely just a computer blip they won't have lied to you don't worry about it they just need to make sure they keep the records.

I can understand why you are worried, but I don't think it would be ethical to like like that so I'm sure it is a genuine technical error.

I agree they wouldn't lie to you : this sounds genuine.

I suppose that these things happen.
Just think of if it as another chance to see your baby!

Thank you for reassuring me, the rational side of me did think that they couldn't lie to me about losing the images.
It's just the woman who called didn't sound very sure about it all and even said they need the images and to double check everything was ok.
I suppose she could have been picking up on me sounding worried about going back in.
At least the rescan is tomorrow so not long to wait to make sure it is all ok and I can see baby again which is a nice bonus.

Please don’t worry, it’s in no ones interest to lie to you. You would have been straight in to see a consultant if there was a problem.

Wolfgirrl · 03/08/2020 09:26

I'm sure it is fine. If it was because there was an issue they would have said, they cant keep things from you. Enjoy seeing baba twice!

It was probably a member of the admin team that phoned you and the only information they had was "can you phone this person, we have lost some scan images so we need to get them back in next week to repeat them".

oneofthose · 03/08/2020 10:38

@Superscientist that's true, she won't have known anything else I suppose.
I'll try and stop catastrophising it now and see what happens tomorrow.
Logically I know you are all right, but hard not to worry when something comes up that isn't the usual procedure. Thank you!
