Should I book an early scan?

I had a MMC a few months ago. Now pregnant again, about 6 weeks. I can’t decide whether to book an early private scan for reassurance or not. I know a normal early scan doesn’t guarantee that things won’t subsequently go wrong, but also waiting another month and a half feels terrifying and impossible at the moment.
Does anybody know if I were to have another MC would it be more likely to be missed again given my body didn’t realise the first time?

You've answered your own question. It's called a reassurance scan. If the scan will ease your mind then go for it. There's no law against you having one done. Everyone will have their own opinion. However, not much will be seen at 6 weeks hold off till about 8 weeks ish.

I had a reasurrance scan for peace of mind and it was worth every penny just to know that things were progressing as they should

I had one at 7 weeks (I had a mmc last year) and I had a full panic attack before going in. Baby was fine and it gave me a little bit of peace. It was worth it for me. I had one again at 10+5 and this kept me going until 12 week scan. I'm now 33+5. Congratulations on your pregnancy.

Not at 6 weeks - if you can't see a heartbeat it will be the opposite of reassuring, you won't know if there is a problem or it's just too early to be detected. Wait until 7 or 8 weeks.

Thanks all, I think I will book one for 7-8 weeks

I had an early scan not for your reasons but because I didn't know otherwise what my dates would have been and the NHS wouldn't send me for one, I was 8 weeks at mine and it was totally worth it😊watching the heartbeat strongly beating made the further 4 week wait to my 12 week scan so much easier. Good luck and congrats in your pregnancy x

Hi. I am having an early private scan tomorrow where I will hopefully be 7+4. I also had a MMC last year that was picked up at my 12 week scan. I'm so nervous for tomorrow. The thought of seeing a blank screen again terrifies me. Best of luck to you xx
