Hey, I'm around 8 weeks pregnant but for the last 3 weeks i havn't been able to eat properly. I could do with losing a bit of weight anyway as im obese so not bothered about that side but am I harming babies development? I do eat little bits but it's usually things like a tin of rice pudding and an apple. I used to eat my 5+ a day and eat quite healthily (despite being obese lol) but now im hardly getting any nutrients. I do take pregnancy supliments xx

I was like this around this time honestly lived on ice cream and fizzy pop for 2 weeks jsut make sure you are taking vitamins. I started to get slowly better..now 16+4 and still some stuff that turns my stomach but can manage to get alot of fruit in which is good xxx

Thanks! Yeah ice cream is yummy right now too, but only certain flavours! Haha. So do you think it's ok for baby? Will they still develop properly xx

I couldn't deal with anything at this stage either... it does pass.

I got some complan meal replacement shakes (not like slim fast, got them from the pharmacy) which I could just about manage to keep down, and that way you know you are getting all the nutrients.

Might be worth a try?

I could hardly eat anything when I was pregnant. I went from a healthy eater to eating any junk I could keep down and this went on for almost the whole 9 months. Oranges were so bad on the way back up (tmi sorry) that I still don't eat them and my daughter is 40! She was 7lb 14oz at birth but I came out of hospital very slim.

As someone who had HG with both pregnancies don't worry about nutrients. I couldn't even keep water down and was on a drip in hospital for dehydration. Both babies absolutely fine- still remember my midwife telling me that although I was feeling like death, the babies would be fine as they were "little parasites" !!!

My whole first trimester I basically lived off salted crisps and fizzy sweets!
Be kind to yourself, eat whatever you can manage, make sure you drink plenty of water and take pregnancy multivitamins if you're worried about nutrition for the baby.

Thanks guys! Just feel soo guilty when im eating a chocolate bar or rice pudding for tea and no veg! Ive gone off meat too urggghh. I'll just continue to eat what i feel i can then and take supliments. I weighed myself before and im 16 stone 5 so ive lost about half a stone in the last few weeks. I assume i will end up putting a lot on further down the line so suppose its good that ive lost a bit first! Im quite tall so i dont look as heavy as i sound. On another note... how much weight do you usually put on during pregnancy? Is it normal to lose some first? Xx

I'm exactly the same at the moment and I'm breastfeeding too so I've gone from eating huge meals and loads of fruit to literally living off ginger biscuits and salted cashews because it's all I can stomach. It does pass just make sure you keep taking your supplements, I'm taking iron tablets as well as I tend towards anemia anyway and I'm not eating anything with iron in. Hope you feel better soon

Shinygreenelephant · 28/07/2020 21:42

Every pregnancy I've lost about half a stone over the first trimester and by the end put 2 stone on

ChocoLover7 · 28/07/2020 22:17

I was the same from 5 weeks til about 20 weeks. I didn't eat whatsoever and I lost so much weight. I was told not to worry too much as baby takes what it needs from you and leaves you deprived which is why you feel awful. I was living off oranges and PomBear crisps. As long as you have your multivitamins and try and stay hydrated, you should be okay. I promise it will pass! I'm 37 weeks currently and baby is healthy and happy in there :)
