Hi!

I’m 35+3 and have been woken up over an hour ago with painful period cramps.

Probably Braxton Hicks however online everywhere says this feels like ‘mild’ cramps and shouldn’t be painful. To me this feels like a horrible period pain so I’m not sure if I’m just being a wuss!

It’s been ongoing for over an hour now and is pretty much constant rather than coming and going.

Has anyone else experienced this and have any ideas of something I can do to ease the pain/uncomfortable feeling?

Thank you x

Hi! I'm 38+3 and also experiencing these pains! I think they are BH as I've been having them pretty painfully now for about a week. (I could be wrong though as FTM)
When I asked my midwife she said have a warm bath & take paracetamol when the pain gets bad, that usually seems to ease mine off.

If they come & go and get more intense then time them:) hope you feel better soon! Xx

Could still be a sign of early labour in my experience. My labours both began with strong back /period cramps as you describe. Get in the bath /shower/warm compresssns phone triage just to rule that out .

I had period like cramps in my lower abdomen that slowly got worse, it turned out to be early labour. It lasted forever. The Branxton hicks were contraction like pains that were all over my abdomen.

Phone the midwife for advice.
