Soft but closed Cervix - Chances of spontaneous labour?

My midwife attempted a stretch and sweep this morning (40+1) as I am desperate to avoid induction where possible!
My cervix was soft but hasn't started to open yet, so feeling rather deflated..
I am provisionally booked in for an induction at the end of next week, and would ideally like to go into spontaneous labour (of at all possible! )...
My hospital still have lots of restrictions in place and I'm really struggling with the idea of being induced without my partner being present until labour is established..
Has anyone had any similar experiences, with a soft cervix but closed and gone ahead to go into spontaneous labour before induction??
Any positive stories would be greatly appreciated 💜

Thankyou for your reply, pleased to hear all worked out in the end!
I'm really hoping for spontaneous labour before we get to the induction date..
I walk my dog daily, so hoping that's helping get things ready 🤞🥰

My induction is booked in for a week too and I want to go into spontaneous labour before then! Help! Lol

Easier said than done I know, but try to chill out. You're only 1 day past your due date and the end of next week is a while away. According to this

datayze.com/labor-probability-calculator

There's a 70% chance that you'll go into labour spontaneously by the end of next week - that's pretty good odds Smile

When my waters broke my cervix was soft but completely closed . It took me 32 hours of contractions to get to 4cms but that’s also pretty standard for a first baby anyway .

Turned out my waters broke very shortly after writing this post!

@Beau2020 hoping all goes well with the delivery of your little one! 💜

Thankyou ladies, really hoping for spontaneous labour, but if it doesn't happen on its own, it's not meant to be..
