So I'm 39+1 , FTM, and I've already got everyone asking me this question *eye roll. I'm sick of it already it's not even my due date, god help if I get to 42 weeks lol.

I've not had any twinges or any signs, nothing.

Are these twinges something that everyone gets before labour is imminent ? Or can it just happen for some people with no signs?

I think lots of people experience twinges before labour, i had them from about 38 weeks and had DD at 40+4 - it's very common towards the end of pregnancy. Like asking someone at 12 weeks if they're feeling nauseous, or at 24 weeks if they're feeling movements.

I didn’t have a single twinge type pain until the day before my son was born and he was born 10 days over my due date. I was waiting and waiting, no braxton hicks, nothing. The day before I had him I started getting some cramping and went for a sweep and was 2-3cm so I’m not sure if I had pains that I just didn’t really notice🤷🏼‍♀️

39+3 and feeling the same. Just reminds me that she's not here.
My dad asked me this very question yesterday and I sharply said no, and that I was going to get fed up very quickly if people kept asking me! Why can't people just ask how are you?? lol

jdy123 · 26/07/2020 21:41

@Birdy1991 I know haha I feel like replying to say that I will tell you when I feel like something is happening there's no need to ask me every day 😁
I don't know what signs I'm meant to be looking out for and I keep wishing I'd feel something so I can get excited!!

My 'first sign' was my waters breaking (at 39+1). I had been in the pub four hours before, saying to friends that I would definitely have to be induced (I was due to be induced at 40 weeks due to some issues in the pregnancy) because there was no way this baby was coming of his own accord any time soon...

OneTooManyBathtimes · 26/07/2020 21:47

Both pregnancies I had no twinge, just went straight into labour. Twinge happened after I'd given birth.

chooseausername · 26/07/2020 21:47

I had no twinges whatsoever. I remember getting worried about it and had the constant messages too. It only gets worse in my experience. My DD was 11 days late but when she decided she was coming, that was it!

Justjoshin22 · 26/07/2020 21:49

Poor you OP, been there! With my first DD, I had no twinges. Was on my birthing ball, following a long walk and a big lunch and waters broke as soon as I stood up. I was 40+8 which I think it average for a first. I’d had a sweep the day before and think that probably moved things along.

OneTooManyBathtimes · 26/07/2020 21:50

Both babies were late. DS was 9 days over, DD was 7.

As for messages... my dad threw a fit when I didn't tell him i was in labour with DS. I didn't want to tell anyone because I was focussing on the contractions and getting to hospital in time... almost didn't! But nope... He was angry I hadn't told him.

I told him with DD but only because I woke up knowing my nan was about to die. She did... and I gave birth a few hours after.

Bellossom · 26/07/2020 21:51

I had absolutely nothing until the day before (when labour started and never stopped till I'd had him) either I went to 41 weeks and convinced myself it wasn't going to happen because I also didn't have any twinges or braxton hicks or anything.
Hope you can enjoy the remaining time as much as possible it's a weird limbo time

jdy123 · 26/07/2020 22:08

Okay glad I posted ! Thanks for your replies guys this has made me feel better. I just need to relax and stop bothering about these twinges and try enjoy my last weeks 😊
