"You'll have a massive baby"

Why do people feel the need to keep saying this.
My first was 7lb 12 at 39+2
Second 7lb 13 on due date

I'm 5ft 10, 22weeks and have only gained 6lb so I just don't know why I keep getting this comment.
People will look at me and DH (6ft3 and normal build) and say "oh you're going to have a big baby it will be at least 10lb I wouldn't be buying newborn clothes"

I've added a bump pic, do I look freakishly huge and like it's going to be a giant baby??

I'm not concerned about the size of my baby at all and nothing suggesting she's big but it's making me really conscious about my size and weigh 😢

I'm 22 weeks and you are pretty much the same size as me, I don't think you look particularly big.

otterbaby · 23/07/2020 15:39

You definitely don't look huge, your bump is lovely! People seem to just love to comment on pregnant women's bodies with no regard for how it might make them feel. I've been told I look huge and I look small, both by complete strangers Hmm people are strange.

carlablack · 23/07/2020 15:40

Did you ask them why they think so? From the info you gave and your photo I see no reason...

BeMorePacific · 23/07/2020 15:44

Considering your 1st 2 babies and the size of your bump I’d say that won’t be the case.
Just a stupid comment made by thoughtless people. x

LRHRN · 23/07/2020 15:46

Thank you ladies, DH says it's people just trying to be nasty.
@carlablack I've asked and they say "look at the size of you"
I've got to stop being so sensitive, it's always strangers who actually don't even matter xx

You look great!
I'm 5"8, size 6/8 (when not pregnant!), And must admit, my bump was about that size when I gave birth. But, and it's a big but!! My babies were both tiny, 5 pound something little things.. and I CONSTANTLY got comments about how tiny my bump was. So, long story short, you look just right to me Wink

Frazzlerock · 23/07/2020 15:49

You have a lovely beat bump. What on Earth are they on about!?

I'm also 22 weeks (today) and this is mine. I'm 5ft4 and put on nearly a whole stone so far 😳 no one has said anything though 🤷‍♀️

I do have big babies, 9lb12 and 8lb5 😬

LRHRN · 23/07/2020 15:51

Aww @EntropyReversed tiny little babies and probably perfectly proportioned for your frame. Xx

@Frazzlerock you look lovely 😊
Thank you for sending this because I think we look about the same and it's made me feel a lot better xx

Lovely bump! But at 22 weeks I just started showing. Everyone is so different. Don't let those comments get to you!

Loveinatimeofcovid · 23/07/2020 15:53

It’s because your both tall. We had the and comments. Both our children cans out averaged sized and stayed that way until they started school when they started to get taller (not surprising as DH and I were the same). I’m not sure why people struggle so much to understand that big people are big as a result of growth, we don’t find out six foot.

Loveinatimeofcovid · 23/07/2020 15:53

*come out

Christ on a bike, if a stranger (or someone I knew, tbf) said that to me I'm pretty sure if tell them to fuck off! Not saying that that's the correct response but it's pretty damn rude.

You look great 👍

Birdy1991 · 23/07/2020 15:54

People are so rude! Your bump is lovely 😊

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 23/07/2020 15:56

Because you are tell. I'm 5 ft 10 and do is 6ft 3. My first was 8lb 8 and second was 10lbs. Doesn't bother me when people say my third will be massive, it probably will. I'm huge already at 13 weeks.

Frazzlerock · 23/07/2020 16:00

I'm pleased I could help @LRHRN! BTW that should say NEAT not beat. Hopefully you worked that out Grin

ArthurandJessie · 23/07/2020 16:00

I was having twins I got told I was big , small , extremely wide 😅 lieing about having twins 😅 had a fat face ( that was a good one ) hadn't put on any weight at all and people felt the need to keep touching me people see a pregnant woman and just loose the plot 😅 if its worth anything you amasing tbh i hope everything goes well for you x

Marpan · 23/07/2020 16:06

My
Baby was 9.11 and newborn stuff was ok for a couple of weeks then it was 0-3.

rlnx · 23/07/2020 16:07

Your bump looks perfect 👌
I dont know why people feel they have the right to comment!!!
Im almost 32 weeks and have no problem in saying i am the size of a bison Grin but I'd be so annoyed if anyone else said it!

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 23/07/2020 16:08

I know I’m likely to have a bigger than average baby because my mum and MIL had bigger babies. DD was 8lb 6oz. I’m expecting DD2 to be similar but I could be wrong.

Just ignore people. I had someone say I was going to be ‘even more huge’ when referring to a date in September. At that point, I wasn’t showing so she must have just been referring to me...

I’ve attached two pictures. One at 21 weeks and one this week now I’m 31 weeks.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 23/07/2020 16:11

Will only seem to let me do one photo at a time. Hmm

anon444877 · 23/07/2020 16:14

People say the most ridiculous things - I had an enormous bump and my dc1 was under 7 lb, dc2 my bump was either slightly smaller or the same and baby was 8 1/2, there’s no perfect correlation.

LRHRN · 23/07/2020 17:04

Thanks everyone you've really cheered me up and made me feel normal.
I think hormones and being a complete mardy baby at the minute has made it worse.
Normally I'd say fuck off, it's like people develop Tourette's when they see a pregnant woman.
You all look great.
Going off scans my baby is perfectly healthy and growing beautifully so that's all that matter, I'm not a complete idiot to think I won't put any weight on.
Although I know someone who only gained 10lb and then the week after giving birth had lost 14lb baby was 6lb 4Hmm but she was only very very petite. Like you say we're all different and that's what makes us beautiful xxx

You look like you have a lovely bump! I don't like it when people make comments like that. Don't take any notice c

Addler · 23/07/2020 17:12

You look lovely! What a lovely little bump you have. I'm the same GA as you and had someone tell me I'm definitely having a girl because I'm carrying so low.

No, I'm not, that's just my apron belly hanging down that you think is a bump. Hmm

mintich · 23/07/2020 17:12

Pregnant with my third and I've had enough. I've started telling people off when they make a stupid comment or asking "why did you say that?" I've laughed it off during two pregnancies then felt rubbish. Not anymore!
