8 weeks and lots of right side twinges/pain

I’m 8 weeks tomorrow and for the past couple of days I’ve had twinges and the odd sharp pain on my right side, they kind of feel like ovulation pain or as though I’ve got pressure around my ovary area. They don’t hurt too bad but it’s enough that I know it’s there, I might have the odd sharp pain if I move too quickly or sneeze.

For the first couple of weeks of my pregnancy I was getting mild cramping but this was all over the pelvic area. Is this normal for me to now be getting one sided pain?

I’ve got an early reassurance scan booked for this Saturday, shall I wait & see if all is well then or is it worth contacting my midwife in the meantime? This is my first pregnancy so I’m not really sure on what’s normal/when to worry!

Hi OP. I had pain down my right side all through my pregnancy and I'm currently 30 weeks and the majority of my pain is still in my right side.
I think it Varys for everyone, but if the pain becomes too much, or you start bleeding then you need to get in touch with your EPU and they will have you in and get you checked out.
My early pregnancy pain was down the fact that I ovulated from my right side and in early pregnancy you develop a functioning cyst on the side you ovulate from (there is some fancy medical term for this).
For most women it doesn't cause them any problems but I was in agony with mine so I ended up having an early scan to rule out baby being ectopic. Thankfully all was well 👍🏻

Thanks so much for your response @lockdownpregnancy it’s so reassuring to hear from someone who has experienced the same. The twinges seemed to have eased a bit today, so I’ve told myself unless they get worse and give me a reason to worry I’ll sit tight until my scan on Saturday Smile
