Red bleeding early pregnancy- any success stories?

I found out I was pregnant a few days ago, very early approx 4 weeks. Lines have been progressively getting darker over the last few days and had a positive 1-2 weeks on a digital clearblue. Tested again this morning and got a strong positive with a dark line, but went to the toilet later on and there was red/brown blood. I've been bleeding since then, light, but bright red and enough to stain a pad. Have mild cramps but that was happening before the bleeding and happened all the way through the first trimester with my first baby.

Has anyone had this and it wasn't a chemical? If it is a chemical, when will the tests start to get lighter? I guess the bleeding will ramp up tonight if it is that. I'm assuming it's so early I don't need to do anything/tell the GP etc but just try to crack on next cycle?

Thank you

I had some heavy bleeding around 8 weeks with my previous pregnancy. It was fresh red blood and I bled for a couple of days. I was convinced I was having an MC. Everything turned out fine and she's now a cheeky little 2 year old.

I had bright red bleeding and small clots at 12 weeks, but every scan has been fine, currently 22 weeks and off for another peek at little boy this afternoon x

Thank you everyone. Still bleeding but not heavily, and tests are still strong positives- have attached a pic with today's at the bottom. Spoke to the doctor yesterday and it's obviously too early for a scan so have to wait for 2 weeks and see if I'm still getting positive tests, and if I am they'll scan me. 2 weeks feels ages away Sad

Oh dear, I know 2 weeks feels ages away, but you have to stay positive and hope for the best. Being worried and stressed won't help your body. Try resting as much as you can.

These early weeks are very hard, I remember I couldn't shake the feeling of baby being gone. That stage of not being able to know what's happening was so frightening.

I ended up with bright red blood gushing out at 12 weeks with some smaller clots in it, and then it happened again (albeit in smaller quantities) a few times up to week 15. The ultrasound showed haemorrhage on the placenta that eventually resolved on its own. Here I am now at 35 weeks! I still worry about the wee one and I'll probably worry every second of my life Grin but everything's good!

I had spotting from 5 weeks and the a very scary gush of red blood. Had an early scan in a&e as epu was closed and they could see the sac but nothing else. Waited 2 weeks still had small spotting and then they heard heartbeat at the early scan. I'm now 39 weeks with a healthy baby. Have had bleeding every time I've tried to have sex so thats been a no go. Realy hope for you will have the same and go onto a healthy pregnancy!

Forgot to say mine was a haematoma very common apparently!!!!

@soph88888 Yep, in our case sex triggered it too! I was ordered bed rest and no sex for weeks.

I honestly had no idea a haematoma on the placenta is that common until it happened to me, it's one of those things no one really tells you unless it becomes a problem for you. My nurse in EPU was like "doctors don't really warn women about this because then they would freak out, anticipating bleeding all the time". It's the other way round for me honestly, I wished I was told about that possibility because when I saw that blood out of nowhere, I felt crushed thinking how it's absolutely certain the baby is gone. Knowing that this can happen and everything can still be okay would be reassuring!

I did, I bled bright red blood and thought I’d definitely had a MC, was convinced that they would not find anything on my scan 4 days later but I was wrong. Dc arrived safely.
