How do you remove the glue from the c section plaster? I have a bit of a tummy and it’s making my tummy stick - so worried it will get infected!

Hello :)

Midwife helped me remove the 1 week c-section plaster today. It is sooooo sticky! I have a bit of a tummy so it goes over the scar but it’s now stuck and worried my scar will get infected.

Any tips please on removing the glue?

If you have some antiseptic wipes in a first aid box the alcohol is them will dissolve the glue. Rub gently, and try to avoid touching the scar itself (won't actually do any harm if you do but may sting)

Anything alcohol based will work. Hand gel, vodka. Otherwise daub the area with a damp clean cloth avoiding your scar carefully. IME the dressings don't hold up too well when wet.

We ordered specialist dressing removal wipes from Amazon we couldn't locate any in local pharmacies. I knew they were a thing because my grandad has to use them! Nothing else we tried could deal with the intense stickiness.

Incidentally I did get an infection - about a week after sorting out the stickiness though- and it has been a bloody nightmare to clear (am 5 weeks pp and still on antibiotics ) so even once you have dealt with the stickiness, do everything in your power to keep that scar clean and dry.
