gestational diabetes - any advice just been diagnosed today with lil info

Internet helpful also overwhelming amount of info, prefer to hear real life stories and help initial questions...Is it standard to have the baby early? 30wks already do I have time to turn it around? Most importantly are the babies fine? The usual panic mode questions!!

Waiting a week on meeting with diabetes clinic 😣

I was induced at 37 weeks but not because of the insulin alone (that would've made it 39 weeks) because she was measuring small (was 5lb 7) and my fluid was low. I actually had a partial placental abruption during labour so don't know whether that only happened during labour or if it had been happening a while and was causing the size / fluid issues?
She was totally fine though, I think midwife was preparing for the worst but said she had an amazing apgar score or something! She failed her second blood sugar (passed the first one) but we were able to manage it on the ward.
Nobody told me how important skin to skin is on keeping babies blood sugar up, so I'd recommend to anyone with GD to do loads of skin to skin it possible.

My little one measured small (can be a complication of GD!) and I had to be induced because of this she was born at 37+6 weighing 5lb 7oz and shes a happy healthy 11 month old! Xx

Seems a good chance my wee one could be early I better make sure I'm fully ready and bags all packed etc!
