Blood clot on my lung

I had a ct scan on Friday and it revealed a blood clot on my lung. I'm now on injections twice a day until baby is born (currently 27 weeks) I was told the blood clot was caused by the pregnancy due to blood being thicker and stickier ( never knew this it's my 3rd pregnancy).
Doctor said I need to go under the obstetrics team now for the rest of my pregnancy, I have an appointment next Thursday with a consultant which i have had booked for months for my back problem so they said I will see them for this also. Just wanted some advice really as to what will happen now in terms of labour/delivery etc does it change anything? Any advice would be great please Smile

Hi, I saw your post, I don't know anything really about the condition but didn't want to leave you unanswered. Flowers for you on getting this stressful news. I am very pleased it was picked up.

I’m under consultant with My current pregnancy due to having a large blood clot when my now toddler was 5 weeks old. From what my consultant has said, it will be the exact same as a regular pregnancy although you will get an extra scan at 32 and 36 weeks, and will need to go to hospital periodically to have a blood test in order to make sure the blood thinning injections are the correct dose and doing their job.

You might need to carry on the blood thinners once baby has been born though (injections if breastfeeding but think you can move to tablets if not) as my treatment was 7 months of the injections once I had been diagnosed.

Good luck! And make sure you got a sharps bin as everybody seems to be reluctant to give me one and seems to think I can magic the syringes away!

@Thegirlhasnoname I haven't seen anyone yet but hoping to get answers next week. When I went to maternity last Friday they checked us both over and the midwife said I will be on the blood thinners after baby is born but that's all I got told. Thank you for your message though.
