Hi,

Did anybody's asthma get worse during pregnancy? My asthma is normally well controlled but noticing I am starting to suffer more with a tight chest and breathlessness as my pregnancy progresses, I'm currently 35 weeks! Is anybody else also struggling with this?
Thanks Smile

I don't suffer from asthma but breathlessness can be quite common in pregnancy so it wouldn't surprise me if it did make it worse.
I'm just over 35 weeks too and get out of breath so easily as my insides feel so squashed.
Just going up the stairs, you'd think I'd run a marathon lol

Hi there @Sassy14 I'm 22 weeks pregnant and have been feeling breathless more than usual. My asthma is also usually very well controlled and pretty mild. I don't know if it's just a symptom of pregnancy or a sign I've become really unfit. I was really sick for several weeks and I've been exhausted. I'm working from home now as well so I'm not moving as much as usual and I've got very lazy.
Another thought - do you suffer with hay-fever? I've noticed my asthma can be triggered by hay-fever/allergies and the pollen count has been high this week

Hi @Niffler2019 I don't usually suffer badly hay fever, just very mildly so maybe that is what has triggered it and caused me a tight chest todaySad x

Not me personally but my mum did. Her asthma was harder to control in all her pregnancies and then had the same issue during menopause. So it definitely seemed a hormone effect for her.
