5-6 weeks pregnant - absolutely no symptoms

I got a BFP in 2nd July , and an online calculator said I was 4 weeks pregnant (date of last period 6th June). I have absolutely no symptoms other than missed period and positive result. No nausea. Boobs are normal. No fatigue. Nothing. Should I be worried? I was going to book in for a private scan next week, but I've read that sometimes a heartbeat isn't detected as it's too early rather than something being wrong, So was going to wait til 8 weeks.

Could this be a chemical pregnancy? The pregnancy test gave a very very dark line on 2nd, and I took one a few days later too. Just wondering how common it is to have absolutely no symptoms at 5-6 weeks?

Enjoy it whilst it lasts. Week 7 onwards is where my symptoms went from 0 to 100.
And my friend didn't get one single symptom the entire 9 months.
Just be patient and relax. Don't do a scan too early and be disappointed that it's too early for heartbeat.

Sounds completely normal, it's very early days, symptoms other than missed period don't kick off instantly. Enjoy it! Being nauseous and/or exhausted as soon as you've missed your period is not fun and drags on forever.

My symptoms kicked in at week 7!

JuneWind · 12/07/2020 11:36

I had zero symptoms for the first few weeks, and then only some mild nausea from about weeks 10-15. Other than that, nothing! My boobs didn’t change or ache at all during pregnancy, maybe very slightly fuller towards the end.

If you can, try to enjoy this stage. I’d definitely wait for the scan if you can, it would just cause you to worry even more if it was too early for a heartbeat when everything is most likely absolutely fine!

Congrats by the way!

Thank you for your replies! I guess I should enjoy the next week or so while I can. It's a really strange time. I think I'll wait til week 8-9 for a private scan to avoid disappointment.

I've also not heard from my hospital and I hear you're meant to have screenings by 10 weeks - I've self referred but not heard back. I might chase next week...

@kittenpeak definitely a good idea to wait till 8/9 weeks for a private scan.

There are no screenings that need doing before 10 weeks, just your booking in appt which normally takes place between 8 and 10 weeks (mine was at 9 and a half weeks). The combined screening tests are done with your dating scan between 11 and 14 weeks.

No symptoms can be normal for some people. The only pregnancy symptom I had in my entire pregnancy was heartburn. My friend was as sick as a dog and on anti sickness meds and I sailed through the first three months with nothing. When I went for my 12 week scan I was convinced they were going to tell me I'd made a mistake and there was no baby but there he was, wriggling around and blowing bubbles.

daydreamerfordays · 12/07/2020 12:21

Enjoy it while it lasts! I remember being desperate to feel something.. now I'm 15 weeks and still being sick every day...

ivfdreaming · 12/07/2020 14:57

I'm 7 weeks with twins and other than tiredness have zero symptoms

With my DD I also had zero symptoms - I think I threw up twice when I was 14 weeks and that was it

If you are going for a private scan I'd wait to around 8-9 weeks that way there should be no ambiguity that could stress you out

BringMeThatHorizon · 12/07/2020 15:03

I had no symptoms through my my whole pregnancy, other than general aches and pains and tiredness towards the end. But nothing at all at the start, didn't feel nauseous once or have a single craving.

pendlepeanut · 12/07/2020 18:58

I'm so glad I've found this thread! Like you, OP, I've been feeling virtually no symptoms since 5 weeks (I'm 7 now) and have been driving myself mad reading forums and googling and assuming the worst.

I've been feeling a little more tired and bloated than usual, but other than that can't say I have anything I can pinpoint definitely to pregnancy. I've booked a private scan at 9 weeks just so I can feel a little more in control of my emotions and hopefully know for definite what's going on.

Reading these replies has reassured me a little that no symptoms can be normal. Wishing you a healthy pregnancy.

Enjoy it while it lasts op. I’ve just gone past 6 weeks and the morning sickness has hit me at full force 😭😭

Bekka94 · 16/07/2020 10:14

Hello - the nervous OP HERE AGAIN! 6 weeks tomorrow I think. My nipples have not gone dark at all - I keep reading this symptom always makes an appearance - am I wrong? Freaking out so much. I ate goats cheese the other night without realising it's a forbidden food and hardly slept....

Hey OP I'm in the exact same boat as you. I'm 6 weeks Sunday and have virtually no symptoms, I had a mmc in April and didn't have any symptoms with that either so I'm freaking out, the only thing I'm hopeful for is I'm not spotting or cramping like I was back then. I booked a private scan at for Tuesday (6+2) because I'm a nervous wreck and just want to see if the baby has gotten to the size it needs to be.

I've heard a lot of symptoms don't start till around 6-7 weeks so hopefully we start to feel something soon! 🤞🏼

SmileyT · 18/07/2020 06:31

@kittenpeak no symptom is guaranteed, that's why most women only know because they miss a period and loads don't find out until 6 or 7 weeks anyway (some go months without knowing if they aren't ttc 🤯 ), as hard as it is I would just stay off google. Stressing about the symptoms you don't have will only be a negative thing for you and your little bean and won't change the outcome, enjoy this time and not long until you get to your scan and get to see everything for the 1st time which will be magical. I'm 5weeks now with no symptoms and totally understand the worries but just try and enjoy your pregnancy especially without the stress of being sick from day 1 x
