39+4 Increased lightening crotch and pressure in bum?

Hi all,

Probably wishful thinking but hoping for so advice/others mums experience.

I'm a FTM and currently 39+4.

Last few days had increased mucus when wiping but not thick like a plug coming away.

Since this morning had lots of pressure in my bum which keeps making me think I need to poop but I don't!

Now I've got soo much lightening crotch it's literally every few minutes I get the stabbing pains.

Just wondering if this could be a sign that labour is imminent?

For me it started with back pain. The pressure in the bum happened as I was pushing.

My contractions started off as cramps in my cervix every 6 minutes. Nothing higher up in the bump. I phoned the hospital as I was only 35 weeks and they brought me in to have a CTG to check and by the time I got there they were every 4 minutes apart and more of my bump was involved. And hour later when the CTG was finished they were every 2 minutes apart. My husband had watched the CTG and had been telling me when the next one was coming. They put me in the postnatal ward as the contractions were still short and we though I had hours left, or they would calm down. 2 hours later I was sent to the labour suite and 2 hours after that I was pushing. So stabbing pains in the cervix could be the start. If they aren't regular then they may come and go and you may have a while to go yet.

I would call labour ward, pressure in the bum can be 2nd stage.

Id call midwife, pressure was definetly obvious during my 2nd stage in labour!

Sounds like labour to me as I didn't have any tummy pains and had pressure in my bottom. Best of luck.

Hi OP, I’ve been exactly the same today but have lost my plug too. Nothing really seems to be happening other than lighten crotch and more pressure.
Rang mat unit and then have said just keep an eye on things and ring them back if anything changes.
I reckon I’ve still got a while to go yet.
