Trying to conceive and breastfeeding

Hi, I have an 8 month old baby which I am currently still breastfeeding and I am also trying to conceive our second child very soon.

Any advice on which vitamins I should take to cover me and babies?

Have your periods returned? Folic acid and vitamin D are both recommended

Folic acid and vitamin d are all you need.

Fwiw, I couldn't conceive until I'd completely stopped feeding (at 27 months). Got pregnant the next month.

Yes, folic acid and vitamin D (you should be taking the latter anyway as a breastfeeding mother).

If your periods haven’t yet returned then night weaning may be sufficient to get them back.

Hi, my periods returned at 6 months so I've had two normal periods so far. I don't take vitamin D for myself as a breastfeeding mother but I do supplement my baby as agreed with health visitor. I was told prenatal vitamins will be suffice too. Is this the case? X

I take a breastfeeding vitamins (Vitabiotics or Superdrug's own) and they are very similar to prenatal ones. I'll be ttc number 3 soon while breastfeeding number 2 so will just swap to prenatal ones when I hopefully get a bfp.

Breastfeeding mothers should also take vitamin D. Probably most people should take it tbh.

Forgot to add, yes you should be taking vitamin d but they are in the multivitamins. It's a key vitamin for fertility along with folic acid.

I was breastfeeding when I fell pregnant with my 2nd and again with my 3rd. The first time I was just advised to continue my prenatal vitamins. The second time, blood tests revealed that I was low in iron and vit d so supplemented with both those on top of prenatals.
