Day after whooping cough vaccination

I had the whooping cough vaccination yesterday, late morning. Other than a achey arm I felt fine all day.

Then it come to bed time, I struggled to get comfortable, if I led on my left (the side I had the vaccine) it really hurt, I struggle to sleep on my right as that's the side baby is and every time I lay on that side i get pain then pins and needles down my leg, midwife said this is normal and it's likely baby is sat on a nerve. I must have got about 3 hours sleep, around 5am I went to the bathroom and was reaching but nothing came up but I couldn't stop the urge to reach.

This morning I woke up in a hot sweat, again went to the toilet but was never actually sick. I have a massive headache, keep going hot and cold and I ache all over. I had a few rich tea biscuits and a glass of water and not long after I was throwing it back up. I've done a 4 soft stools but not diaoreah. I've also got stomach pain ( like when you have a dodgy stomach).

Is this normal after the whooping cough vaccination or should I be concerned?

May be worth calling your GP just to reassure you. I only got the aching arms with both mine.

I only got an achy arm for a couple days and I felt a bit tired but that’s all x

I felt like this after the flu jab then felt nothing after the whooping cough vaccination, not even a sore arm!
I would wait 24 hours to see if the symptoms die down. If they persist, call your GP.

I felt really really crappy for a couple of days after mine too, headaches etc and my arm was so sore. I thought I was coming down with something big but it did just pass after a couple of days x

I felt absolutely awful for a day or so after mine, but keep an eye on it. If it lasts into tomorrow I would give your GP a call x

Achy arm really common and mine eased after a couple of days. The midwife advised me that you can get a fever as a rare side effect but that it should go with paracetamol, so definitely give your GP a call if this isn't the case. Hope you're feeling better soon x

Flu like symptoms are normal but shouldn't last longer than 48 hours, I've had mine today and that's what the nurse told me.

Doctors sent me to a&e with suspected sepsis. Fingers crossed its nothing

Hope you’re ok. I felt really crap the day after my jab. So sleepy and needed a nap. A sore arm for a week.

UrsulaSings · 09/07/2020 20:24

Bloody hell OP, hope everything's ok! Wasnt expecting to read that!

OverTheRainbow88 · 09/07/2020 20:40

Hope all is good with you and baby

Everything is fine and normal, nothing showed up in my bloods. Gave me a bag of fluids as they found ketones in my urine and feel allot better. They are sending me home soon with anti sickness tablets. I saw baby yesterday at my 20 week scan and he's growing nicely, no concerns. He's been kicking about regularly so they don't have any concerns with him
