I packed mine at 38 wks, my colleague thought I was v late In getting prepared. Very few labours are super fast so I don’t get overly panicked about putting things in a bag last minute. I’d write the list earlier though.

Amichelle84 · 07/07/2020 20:35

FTM too. I'm aiming to have it packed by 36w but i have a list written out so I know what to pack if things happen before that.

Probably around the 32 week mark. A standard appointment at 37 weeks with my first became a sudden rush to induce me and I hadn't packed a bag!

My husband went home and did it and let me tell you, the 7 push up bras he panic packed came in handy Hmm-- not.--

Beau2020 · 07/07/2020 20:41

I packed mine at 30 weeks lol

erised24 · 07/07/2020 20:43

Started mine at 35 weeks, FTM too.

cuddlypenguins · 07/07/2020 20:44

Packed mine at 38 weeks, in a hurry after going to an appointment in the evening and being told to come back to be induced first thing in the morning! Was too busy assuming first baby I'll go overdue

Sunsage · 07/07/2020 20:46

FTM here too, I made my list at about 26 weeks and have gradually been gathering bits up (now 30 weeks) intend on having it fully packed with everything from my list (apart from my clothes as no doubt not else will fit me by then) by 37 weeks.

Were due to move house so I don't have a nursery to be sorting at the moment so this is just my way of feeling organised for baby

Michelle292 · 07/07/2020 20:47

@ItsClemFandangoCanYouHearMe1 push up bras 😂😂😂brilliant!!!

Thanks ladies! Ill start with a list 😁 x

I've nearly finished mine at 32 weeks.. But then I am very bored at home furloughed/in lockdown!

BeMorePacific · 07/07/2020 21:11

My friendA husband was telling me she packed her bag at 37 weeks whilst she was in labour. Unfortunately he forgot her toothbrush. Due to Covid 19, no one was able to bring one in for her. Worse than that she had a blood transfusion so was in for 5nights.
So I’d say pack early, even if it’s just your essentials. xxx

FlyingLemur · 07/07/2020 21:16

Earlier than you think you need to! I didn’t get the chance to pack one first time round as went into labour at 33+6. It was completely unexpected and the pregnancy had been entirely uncomplicated until then.

Dyra · 07/07/2020 21:25

I had everything bought, and was planning on packing it the weekend after I turned 36 weeks. Wish I'd done it earlier, as that weekend I was on the antenatal ward waiting for an induction. DH had the list of everything I wanted packed, but even then it took him a few attempts to get it "right".

I'm only partially kidding when I tell people I'm packing mine the evening after my anomaly scan for any future children. In reality I'll try to have it packed by 32 weeks. Definitely by 36 weeks.

KittyKat2020 · 07/07/2020 21:26

I packed mine at 28 weeks as I wanted to ensure it was all done

DanniArthur · 07/07/2020 21:29

I packed mine and had a bullet proof birth plan at 36 weeks. DD came at 41 weeks and the plan went out the window lol

ShyOwl · 07/07/2020 21:33

I'm 28 weeks with my 2nd and have started packing, travel toiletries, muslins, just slowly adding things to it
Same first time round,
I was a premie so always got that at the back of my mind and don't remotely trust DH to pack the right stuff no matter how hard he would try

BillyAndTheSillies · 07/07/2020 21:41

35/36 weeks. My waters broke at 37+2 with DS2 and I hadn't packed my bag yet (mainly because DS1 went over due) so I was panicking packing bags, DH was building the crib and trying to arrange childcare for DS1 as both our sets of parents were away.

I used a prepackaged kit from a company called birth bag and just had to add in a few things.

Definitely earlier!!!! Keep it by the door and keep things for you and baby separate or labelled so they're easy to grab.

UrsulaSings · 07/07/2020 21:45

I hadnt even thought of my hospital bag then was admitted at 29 weeks with signs of premature labour and had to rush home and throw a few things in a bag as it was the middle of the night and my OH doesnt drive. Luckily things didnt progress, but I have definitely packed a few things since then!!

sel2223 · 07/07/2020 22:04

I've just packed at 34 and a half weeks after a bit of a scare that I was going into early labour 🙈

MrsH497 · 07/07/2020 22:04

I had mine packed by 37 weeks (FTM) packed for my "planned" natural/water birth
38 week appointment led to an ECV followed by a C section and not much time to repack! Hadn't been anticipating the overnight stay so had to quickly add a few bits! Pack for every eventuality!

bluemoon2468 · 07/07/2020 22:34

I'm 28 weeks and I've just started making a list - aiming to have it fully finished by about 34-35. My MIL has put me in a panic after telling me that all 3 of her kids came spontaneously before 38 weeks, with my husband the earliest at 36 weeks, and that I need to be prepared early! God knows what I would end up with if I had to send my husband home to pack things up by himself 🙈

boymum4 · 07/07/2020 23:28

I'd say pack on the earlier side, 34ish weeks! You never know what will happen in the end. I've suddenly been told I'm having a c section on Friday at 37+2 and I'm so glad my bags packed already and I haven't got to do it all now!

Havlerr · 07/07/2020 23:54

I begun packing at 30ish weeks and collecting bits to put in. Now almost 35 weeks and it’s almost done, just things like phone chargers, snacks, water bottle, loose change etc to pop in.

TooCloseToTheProject · 08/07/2020 01:42

I packed mine at 25/26 weeks because we were going on holiday (staycation), I wanted a hospital bag just in case. Think I just reviewed it a bit closer to the time.

mouse1234567 · 08/07/2020 05:31

I presumed I Would be late as a FTM but went into labour at 39 weeks -whatever you do don’t wait to pack it in between contractions!! I won’t be doing that again!!
