Heavy bleeding and some clots - healthy pregnancy?

Hi all,

I'm new to all of this so please excuse me if I sound clueless or ignorant, promise that's not the case!

My partner and I found out I was pregnant last Saturday. Unfortunately we only found out when I experienced a bleed and was advised by out of hours to take a pregnancy test - which came up positive immediately! A bit of a shock but we took it in our stride. As it all happened at the weekend, I wasn't put into contact with our local EPU until Monday morning. Following a description of my symptoms the nurse felt that I didn't need to go in at that time as she thought it may be an early miscarriage and advised me to test again in a weeks time and call if positive. Well the impatient in me means I have tested a day early, and still definitely very much positive. I know even with a miscarriage, hormones can take weeks to come out of your system, but I guess what I would like to know is whether anyone has experienced a heavy, bright red bleed with passing of clots and gone on to have a healthy pregnancy? Bleeding lasted a few hours, but was never enough to completely saturate a pad, and there hasn't been anything at all (even when wiping) since Tuesday night/wednesday morning. I only experienced mild cramping on Saturday for around an hour or two. I would hazard a guess I am roughly six weeks based on my last period etc.

Thank you for any advice, or personal accounts. Much appreciated :) x
