When did you stop working and start maternity leave?

I'm pregnant with second baby, first time around I finished work at 37 weeks and baby was born at 42 so I'd been off for 5 weeks bored stiff. I don't want to do that again

Just wondered when other mums finished work and how late they worked/was it manageable or was it a real slog at the end.

I'm wfh atm which may change things anyway.

Ftm here, I'm looking to finish at around 39 weeks , this is dependent on the Covid situation. Currently my employers are advising to work from home from 28 weeks. I really don't want to work from home I'd rather continue working.

I'm due DC3 in August and i'm finishing up end of July when i'll be 36 weeks, although this is 4 weeks of Holiday with my maternity leave officially starting on my due date

I started my maternity leave 2 days before my due date. This worked out well because my due date was 29th August (baby born on 31st August) and I work in a school so it was the summer holidays and technically I finished work around 36 weeks! I was moving house at the time so I wasn’t bored but I imagine it would have been a long 4 weeks wondering if every little twinge was labour otherwise X

I’m finishing tomorrow!

I’ll be 35 weeks so know I’ll having lots of time off but due to the nature of my work I do really need to be back for early summer next year. As a result I figured I’d take all my annual leave rather than rolling it over. So I’m taking 4 weeks A/L from tomorrow and then starting maternity leave in the week I’m due. If baby turns up earlier I’ll just bank the A/L for some point in 2021, but to be honest I’ve not had a day off since lockdown began and it’s been crazy - I need some time to rest and to get stuff sorted for baby’s arrival!

I think things are a little bit different now with the covid 19 situation and ladies may be starting their leave early to avoid returning to work.
What might have seemed boring in previous years probably seems like a preferable option for some women and wont be that different to WFH and being in lockdown for months anyway.
I'm 34 weeks now and have just 'finished' work thanks to a combination of leave and lieu days before my maternity starts at 38 weeks.
I've been at home since March and would have had to go back to work for a few weeks otherwise.

First time stopped at 36 weeks and used two weeks of annual leave before mat leave kicked in.

Second time? Stopped at 37+1, gave birth at 37+3. On the phone to the hospital as DH and I built the crib and packed my bag, frantically calling relatives to have DS1 because both sets of our parents were on holiday because the baby could never come at 37 weeks.....Hmm

First one I stopped at 38 weeks, gave birth at 40+10. Was not a happy camper as I struggled with boredom and, without work to take my mind off it, over focusing on how huge I was.

Second seven days before planned c-section at 39 weeks. Much better.

Rubyandsaphire · 02/07/2020 23:23

38 weeks had baby at 39+5 first time around.
Dt I was told to stop work at 24 weeks - had them at 37 weeks.

FTM I'm taking a week annual leave at 37 weeks, so maternity leave officially start 2 weeks before my due date. Currently WFH and will be till I go on maternity.
