Stitch type pain at top of bump - 32 weeks

Has anyone else felt a stitch type pain at the top of their bump? It's mostly on my left side but sometimes all the way across the top.

It comes maybe once a day and is a really sharp stabbing sensation and hangs around for about an hour even if I change positions, but then tends to disappear. My belly doesn't go hard when it happens so I don't think it's BH contractions.

I'm not overly worried about baby seen as he's still moving normally and I've just assumed it's ligament pain/stretching but just wondered if anyone else had experienced this?

I should probably add that it feels tender to touch the area as well, TIA

Its worth checking out any pain with your midwife, just to be on the safe side. However, I got a very similar, stitch like pain under my top ribs during my first pregnancy, worse when sitting down. My baby was in the breech position and was told it was probably caused by that!

Hi @hmfair54 I am 37 weeks and have been experiencing some pain on the right side of my bump. I phoned the midwife and she just said to keep an eye on it and to call back if gets any worse. I am going in tomorrow morning (for unrelated issue) so will get it checked out then. She did however ask me specifically if the pain was up high/under ribs (which mine isn’t and not sure the reason she asked) so it is probably best to phone the midwife to check. Like @somethingsnappy my baby is also breech.

@Somethingsnappy @Missdrifter thanks for replying, interesting you both had/have breach babies, the last time my LO's position was checked he was head down and I'm 90% sure I haven't felt him change position but I could be wrong.

I know about the association with pre-eclampsia and rib pain but the pain doesn't really feel like it's in my ribs and feels more muscular over the top of my bump but I'll definitely give the midwife a ring if it gets any worse.
