Blood Flow between me and baby.

Just looking for some advice or peoples experiences with what i am going through. Had a growth scan last week baby is growing slightly bigger then average weighing 4lb 13oz at 32 weeks. My last DD was a big baby so kind of expected this. My concern is the consultant has spoken to me and is slightly concerned about the blood flow between me and baby so booked me in for another scan next week. Im worried and can't get my head around whats happening. Anybody been through anything similar and could share their stories?
Thank you.

What did they say about the blood flow?

It was picked up on one of my scans during my first pregnancy that there was backflow of blood along the umbilical chord.

Sorry if I'm being condescending but you didn't give much detail.

Anyway, you baby's lungs will not start to work until the baby is born so the baby gets oxygen from your blood and your blood also takes away the waste gases from your baby, it does this via the umbilical cord.

O assume it is something to do with that blood flow.

Sorry ive been a little brief but im not fully sure myself, she meant that there is reduced blood flow to the baby. When she looked at the measurements on the scan she said the 'trend' was slightly higher than normal. I was hoping my midwife could help but she was a little clueless too. 😕

Sounds like increased resistance in your uterine arteries.

Slight association between raised UAD and IUGR and/or PET. It’ll simply be a matter of observing you more closely.

Hi @Rainbow714

I am only 21weeks + 3 but at my 20 week scan they found high resistance in the blood flow between me and the baby. The baby is currently measuring quite big but I am also in for extra growth scans at 28, 32 and 36 weeks just to monitor the baby's size (they can potentially measure small) and for pre-eclampsia.

The link AnneBullen put up was the leaflet that I was given at my scan appointment.

AnneFTM · 01/07/2020 11:01

When I wrote 'for pre-eclampsia", I meant that there is more of a chance of me developing it, not that I currently have it. At the time when they were telling me about it, I struggled to understand but the leaflet they gave was useful.

Did they say at your appointment if it was 'high resistance'?

AnneFTM · 01/07/2020 11:02

I'm having a nightmare here Blush ... not 'high resistance' but 'raised resistance'?

Thank you for replying, im not 100% sure the consultant just said they need to bring my scan date forward as there is concerns about blood flow between baby and me. AnneFTM how big is your baby measuring? And what are they doing to keep a closer eye on you both? Did they mention going full term or anything to help with blood flow. Sorry for all the questions, im slighlty confused and hoping to know more next week xx
