Am I supposed to feel full of energy and glowy now I’m in my second trimester?

I’m 14 weeks today. 6-11 weeks I spent feeling really sick and exhausted but that got better just before my 12 week scan and I thought I was getting ready for the second trimester energy burst that everyone talks about. I’m exhausted. I don’t feel sick anymore but I feel painfully tired. Is this normal? I do have a toddler so maybe that’s why. We are currently cuddled up watching tv and I’m feeling very guilty that I’m too tired to play right this second (we have done lots of playing and painting and been for a walk today). I can’t remember feeling this tired with my first until the third trimester. Is it normal? I feel like I should be full of energy but I just want to lie down and sleep.

Sorry that sounds like a big moan. I’m very very very happy to be pregnant and I know I’m very lucky. My toddler is the most wonderful, happy little person so I really am very very lucky. I’m just also very very tired!

Me! I’m 14 weeks tomorrow and I am still pretty exhausted by about 2pm every day...and that’s without a toddler and a lovely 9 hours sleep every night!

I don't think there's any fixed way to feel at any stage of pregnancy. I agree though 2nd time around is exhausting as you still have to do childcare, housework, work etc. As normal along with everything else that goes on with pregnancy. It's only past 2 months (I'm 6 months now) where I have felt normal but insomnia is kicking in with the warm night's! X

I’m 18 weeks and not glowing. It’s total bullshit in my opinion!

Superscientist · 29/06/2020 16:07

Nope! I didn't get the 2nd trimester glow it was slightly less tiring than the first but I would still say I was drained a lot of the time.
I have the most energy in my third trimester but now I'm 33 weeks I'm getting tired again.
I think I would have enjoyed my second trimester more if I wasn't hoping for the energy to appear!

37 weeks. No glow.

37 weeks. Glow is a myth.

4amWitchingHour · 29/06/2020 17:24

You'll hopefully feel less tired, but actual glow? Bollocks.

Dragonfly80 · 29/06/2020 17:25

Ah thank you everyone! I feel much better knowing it’s not just me, I was feeling really lazy. This pregnancy is very different to my last, I sailed through my last pregnancy with no real symptoms, this time is very different! Hope we all get our glows soon!!

As others have said the 'pregnancy glow' is a myth!

I'm 33+4 now and still waiting for it, although, looking back on the pregnancy, I do think I felt my best between weeks 16 and 26 ish and wish I'd appreciated it more at the time. Each trimester comes with it's own issues though and I haven't particularly enjoyed any of it.

Weeks 6-11 were when my sickness and early symptoms peaked. Then week 30+ have been awful too. It's hard to say which has been the worst actually.
