Has your midwife predicted a big baby and been right?

I went for my pre op today and the midwife commented on this being a big baby. I did have a scan 2 weeks ago and it estimated baby being 7lb. I don’t know whether I should go and by some bigger babygros. I’ve only packed newborn stuff. 🙈

I always packed newborn and a few sets of 0-3 I'd rather have my own bits to put on baby and it be slightly bigger than borrowing anything. Also if you buy and don't use your baby will grow so it won't be wasted xx

Agree with PP - buying bigger won't go to waste so best to be prepared.

DC2 was predicted to be big based on previous DC size and also measuring big. I was told DC2 was measuring 7lb at a scan at 36 weeks. The scans apparently have an error rate of +/- 1lb. My baby was born early at 38 weeks (induction due to size and also history of haemorrhage and shoulder dystocia) but only weighed 7lb3oz so scan was wrong.

My consultant told me to avoid all sugar, as that all goes on baby weight. I really did this and baby was smaller so could have helped.

I hope this helps. I think predicting baby weight is very much a guessing game.

Good luck

Yes my male Dr years ago told me that I was going to have an eye waterer and the baby was nearly 10 lbs. I still can't believe he actually said that

I've never experienced a midwife predicting the size and I ended up with a 9lb 3 baby! I'm pregnant again and asking the question re sizing

Think I’ll pop out tomorrow and get a few 0-3 items :) thanks everyone
