Hi Ladies,
I'm 33+3 and having an ELCS. I'm high risk and chose my desired hospital back in January (pre-covid) as it is considered the best in my area. It is not my nearest hospital and is in a different trust so I've had midwife appointments in one area and consultant appointments at my chosen hospital in the neighbouring county. All has been fine and I'm really happy with the antenatal care I've received.
The reason I'm now questioning my choice is that my partner is locked down in a different country and we haven't seen each other since early March but there is finally light at the end of the tunnel that he may be able to get here for the birth. Eeeek! My chosen hospital is an old building with small wards so my partner could only be there for the section itself and an hour or so afterwards then would have to leave. The other hospital is modern and all patients have their own rooms and, speaking to people who have recently given birth there, their partners are allowed to stay with them the entire time (including overnight).
Has anyone ever asked to change hospitals? Are we even allowed to do that? How would I go about finding out? It wouldn't normally be such an issue but it'll be 5 months since my partner and i saw each other if/when he gets here and I wont want him to leave my side.
