Going to ask for an Elective C-Section 36+1 due to new medical issue. How long does it take to confirm one?

Hello all,

I’m actually in hospital atm. The docs are coming round in a bit to have a chat. I’m going to ask for an elective c section as they are going to discuss a plan hopefully.

Do they confirm there and then if they agree or do they have to go through a body?

Thanks so much :)

If you are seeing the consultant as an inpatient, for whatever issue, they can usually make a plan with you then and there. If it’s a bit controversial they may want to discuss with their colleagues (certain indications mean CS is done at a set gestation for example). You likely won’t get your exact date/booking time then and there as there’s still paperwork to book theatre etc. if you’re seeing more junior members of the team sometimes they have to confirm with their bosses but you should get a general idea of whether it’s going to go ahead. Hopefully you have a good discussion and get a plan you’re happy with :)

It really depends on the reason OP as to whether they'll agree it there and then but it's not too late.
I'm having an ELCS which was discussed very early on but I won't get my date until my 36 week appointment in 3 weeks time.
