Hello All, Just a quick question. Does anyone has used Elocon 0.1% ointment to treat eczema flare up during early pregnancy? If so , was everything alright e.g was baby fine? I am just a bit concerned using it as google suggests that it has not been tested much on pregnant women, but it has caused some birth defects whilst tested on animals. Called my doctor this morning, he said its fine to use it.. but it still does not reassure me enough. So, what are your experiences with this steroid cream? Xx

I use this for my skin too, I asked the gp if it was ok to continue when I first got pregnant and she said it was fine. I have only used when needed and sparingly. Baby due in 3 weeks and seems fine from all the scans I have had

Thank you @charlotte366 for your reply! I think I will better use it as if not it might get infected :) .. hopefully all will be fine!

I’ve used it when needed to(2 doctor friends unofficially said to!). I tried not to for a bit but flare ups were bad and couldn’t get rid. All seems fine at a 17.5 week abnormality scan (had for other reasons).

The doctor said to me pregnancy is like a steroid for your body so the steroid cream shouldn't have a negative effect.

I found my ezcema worse earlier in the pregnancy but now I'm near the end my legs are looking the best they have for years !

Thank you @wishing3 and @charlotte366 for your replies! You both definitely put my mind at ease.. Hopefully this eczema will not be with me whole pregnancy 🤔

Yes. I used it in my last pregnancy, especially at the beginning. All ok.
