Can't get past this point of worry 🤦‍♀️ *Trigger*

So today I'm meant to be 10 weeks from my last period, had a scan at early pregnancy unit this morning due to previous miscarriages- scan showed I measured 9 weeks and 4 days, which is fine because I know I ovulated slightly later.

But what is causing me anxiety is that last pregnancy in January the baby died at 9 weeks and 3-4 days and measures exactly the same in mm as what this baby today, so now I'm worried that even though we saw a heartbeat today that it will stop and won't go beyond today 🤦‍♀️

We didnt find out last time till 10 and half weeks that baby had died so I'm so worried that when we go back for our 12 week scan in a few weeks that babys heartbeat won't be there

Been there, unfortunately there's nothing anyone can say that will make you believe it will all be ok. I'm 31 weeks now so it is possible, you just have to take each day as it comes and eventually you will see your belly growing, feel them kicks and start to feel more reassured. Wednesday is the 1 year anniversary since we lost our first baby so it's brought back those anxieties that something will go wrong, but then I feel the movements and am reassured it's all ok. Hang in there it does get better x

@BabyB19 Thank you for your reply, I know that's odds are that things will be okay this time but it doesnt make the worry easier! I cant wait to feel those kicks that like you say will help!

I wrote very similar posts initially looking for reassurance but unfortunately our minds latch on to the anxiety regardless of what people say. You're so close to the 12 week mark so hopefully it will go quickly for you. I carried on doing tests every day for months and I had scans every 4 weeks so I never had too long to wait for reassurance before the next one. My placenta is at the front too so I didn't feel anything for a very long time so hopefully yours is at the back and you will feel some nice kicks before long 🤞🏼 good luck and keep us posted ❤️

Sorry to hear that you’re feeling anxious, it’s understandable. Would you consider booking a private scan just to reassure yourself that you are past that point and that your baby has grown?

EllieJai44 · 22/06/2020 20:03

@crazychemist even though I had a scan today, I am considering booking a private scan for next week to make sure baby does make it past this point, my husband thinks I'm being OTT 🤦‍♀️

no experience of this but couldn't read and dash. I think that stress isn't good so if a private scan will help set your mind at ease then it is well worth it

Hi @EllieJai44... I totally understand your worry. I had a mmc last year at 12 weeks and found out baby had stopped growing at 8 weeks. I'm currently 12 weeks with my second pregnancy and was so so nervous for my 12 week scan, which I just had on Saturday and everything was fine with the babies (I'm having twins!) they measured as they should and everything looked good. We were definitely in the unlucky 25% of pregnancies that don't make it last time, so the chances are this time that we're in the 75% of pregnancies that do work out. It's so hard to stay positive and I totally get how you're feeling, but the odds are really in our favour this time. And the fact your baby measured as it should have this time shows they are growing at a good rate. (Last time for me I had an early scan at 8 weeks and the baby only measured 6+4 - which was definitely a sign things weren't right then). If you need to have another scan for reassurance then do whatever you need to do. Keeping everything crossed for you 🤞🏻 x

EllieJai44 · 22/06/2020 21:34

@MilsCookie Thank you for that! And huge Congratulations on the twins!

We've had scans at 7 weeks, 8 and half weeks and then today at 10 weeks, each time baby measured behind by 2-4 days which like I say I expected based off ovulation, but its grown the right amount between scans, I definitely think I'll end up with another scan next week, just to get me to that 12 week scan- I also have a doppler which I actually have heard baby on!

Aww thank you @EllieJai44 !! I think the fact baby is growing at the correct rate is a really good sign. This time round I had a scan at 6 weeks (where I found out it was twins!) then 8 weeks, then waited for my 12 week scan (I was actually 11+4). I measured a couple of days behind at all of them too but I know when I ovulated so like you wasn't concerned. I think the fact they were growing as they should in between scans is the main thing!! Oh wow that's so cool you have a doppler! Will this be your first baby?

EllieJai44 · 22/06/2020 21:43

@MilsCookie no this would be our second, my first is 16 months old, little girl, but since having her we have actually experienced 3 miscarriages, the first one was super early, pretty much a chemical, second one was a blighted ovum at 7 weeks and then 3rd baby stopped at 9 weeks and 3-4 days.....anxiety levels are just crazy high unfortunately

Happened to be in January as well. I'm 17 weeks at the moment. Tbh I relinquished thinking about it and comparing. I took my aspirin, and my folic acid, didn't drink and that's all I could do. There's no point worrying about something you don't have control over. You can't have a scan every single day. Scabs are a snapshot in time. Just try to relax and concentrate on staying healthy and enjoying the dd you have.

EllieJai44 · 22/06/2020 22:03

@chubbyhotchoc I'm also taking asprin and higher folic acid this time too, hoping its going to help, congratulations on your pregnancy!
