Admitted with bleeding at 33+3... old blood since?

I had a heavy bleed of bright, red blood including clots about the size of a satsuma (sorry if TMI!) at the weekend and was admitted to the ward for observation.

The bleeding stopped within a few hours and was monitored in hospital for a couple of days. No pain, everything good with baby and scan showed previously low lying placenta had moved up and away from the cervix. Dr examined me in triage and cervix was closed and no signs of contractions/labour.

Since being back home have noticed very small amounts of what looks like old blood (dark brown in colour, with teeny tiny bits of clotting on the toilet paper). I’m assuming this is just old blood from the original bleed making its way out and not something I should be concerned about... it’s less in amount than I get at the end of My period. Baby still moving as normal and no signs of labour, fresh blood, pain etc.

Anyone else experienced this?

Sound like it probably is old blood but i would advise you to contact labour ward or midwife always better to be checked.

I'd definitely check in with midwife x

Sorry for the delay in replying... been a mad couple of weeks since I posted. The old blood eased off and midwife wasn’t concerned but I then had a small amount of dark red blood on wiping so spent another 5 hours in triage where they found a build up of old blood and clots which they cleaned out which wasn’t pleasant Sad

That was on the Friday, then I had another bleed of fresh red blood on the Sunday, not as much as the Sunday 2 weeks prior but again, off I went to triage. They kept me in for obs and monitoring of baby same as the first time and I’ve been home since.

I have a growth scan and clinic appt to discuss options, they were discussing induction whilst I was on the ward. I’m 36 weeks today so hoping baby holds on for at least another week 🤞🏼
