Hi, I'm on my 4th pregnancy and am 37+4weeks and have yet too decide on a name! What do you think of Scarlett, Eliza or Natasha for a girl. And Elijah, Jesse or Isaac for a boy. Which do you all prefer? HELP!

I love Eliza (it is on my shortlist), and Isaac. Not keen on any of the others, especially Scarlett.

Naetha · 24/09/2007 12:51

I love Isaac, which can then be shortened to Zack for less formal stuff

Not a big fan of any of the girls names to be honest, but Natasha still seems a bit council estate to me

HonoriaGlossop · 24/09/2007 13:04

Anna, didn't realise I was having a lapse of taste with Louis

Am thinking again........

Have thought. And I still like it

Also like Leo, and Edward for boys. What ya got to say about that, eh?

nappyaddict · 24/09/2007 13:09

i like all the girls names.

elijah for a boy.

susiemj · 24/09/2007 13:17

IME Natasha will definitely be shortened to Tash or Tasha at school. I like Eliza and Isaac best.

Anna8888 · 24/09/2007 13:21

Honoria - it's just that Louis is very pseud's corner in these parts... . Not a name real aristos use any more.

Anna8888 · 24/09/2007 13:23

Edward is very nice. We take the bus to school in the morning with a very sweet Edward . Leo I'm not so wild about - perhaps I'm polluted by Léa, which is very popular for girls here and which I hate.

nappyaddict · 24/09/2007 13:27

what about max for a boy?

ipanemagirl · 24/09/2007 13:29

I think Scarlett may date in time. I think classic names for girls are great and they grow old more gracefully.
I feel for fifi Trixie bell Geldof when she's 50!
And Scarlett seems more loaded somehow, a bit of a name to live up to. A very shy Scarlett may feel her name is ridiculous and inappropriate. But I am quite conservative I think.
I love Isaac although you will find that no one can spell it! Jesse will confuse people who will spell in wrongly and not know the gender sometimes which may irritate you.
I like Louis but agree that it has become very North London and a bit associated with pretentious parents - having said that I do like the name very much and know some very nice parents of boys called Louis!

Thanks for all the replies. I think we've decided on Isaac for a boy and Eliza for a girl. My next problem is middle names for both! Any suggestions????????

Do you have any names int he family??? I always find this an easy solution.

Bubbaloo · 25/09/2007 11:36

Sorry but don't like any of the girls names. All the boys names are lovely though.

emmared1980 · 25/09/2007 11:38

Not really. Shocking names on both sides , me and my sisters haven't got middle names for this reason!!!

OP posts:
mixedmama · 25/09/2007 11:40

Mmmmm... do you "need" middle names.... I like using them personally, but i guess they are not really essential.

My DS has his paternal grandfathers name as a middle name, not a nice name but he will probably not use it.

emmared1980 · 25/09/2007 11:46

My other 3 children have got middle names so I feel I should give this baby one aswell. I've always hated not having a middle name especially as my first name is quite boring.

OP posts:
mixedmama · 25/09/2007 11:52

mmm... difficult one now then... at leastyou have the first name decided..

EmsMum · 25/09/2007 11:54

The purpose of middle names is to ensure that the initials arent a silly word or acronym. ie NOT Reginald Iolanthe Perrin.
Especially important in girls who may change their surname.

Thats why so many people have middle name starting with a J. Well thats my theory!

It also gives the child an option if they hate the first name you've so lovingly saddled them with.

EmsMum · 25/09/2007 11:55

Whoever suggested Max... not unless you actually want half the dogs in the park come running when you call to your boy!

emmared1980 · 25/09/2007 12:00

EmsMum Max, that's what I always think!

We had chosen Isaac for a boy, but found out yesterday we're having a little girl. We have chosen Hannah for our dd's middle name.

How about Joseph or Oliver for a boy's middle name?

Eliza Jane
Eliza Anne
