Hiya, I know everyone's different but I'd like to get an idea of how much weight others put on during their entire pregnancy.

Is there a certain number of weeks when you noticed you were putting weight on faster?
Does your weight pre pregnancy have an affect on how much you put on during?

I'm currently 23 weeks and I've put on a stone and a half, is this about right? I've always been really slim so I don't know if that makes any difference!

Thank you 😊

I started at 133lb and now weigh 160lb and I'm 25 weeks tomorrow.
I have only gone up one dress size on my lower half to a size 12 so far and I am very much all bump!
I imagine I'll be at least another 20lb heavier by the time baby gets here, which would total nearly 50lb.
I'm currently putting on 2-3lb per week!
I saw a work colleague of mine today that is due exactly the same time as me and she doesn't even look pregnant! I was so jealous! 🤣

happytoday73 · 13/06/2020 21:21

4 stone by end...basically 10lb babies though. literally all my weight was belly... Over 50 inches for both pregnancys

otterbaby · 13/06/2020 21:21

I started at 130 lbs and am now 152, I'm 24 weeks. I feel like I've gained a lot more weight than anyone else I speak with but not sure if it's because my weight and BMI was lower to begin with (starting BMI was 18.5). Although it all seems to be going to be bump and bum 😂 Hope that helps!

Lavenderpurple · 13/06/2020 21:24

I put on next to nothing with my first. I gained loads once she was born as I ate junk to help with the tiredness and for ease.
I’m 17 weeks with second and I’ve put 4lb on so far but I’ve been quite greedy what with lockdown. Going to try and control it a bit from Monday.

keentohelp · 13/06/2020 21:26

I was 130 when I started- 150 by 20 weeks (and most of that was in the first couple of months). But then only gained 4 more pounds after that... which I don't think is supposed to be normal!

tempnamechange98765 · 13/06/2020 21:26

Loads, I think about 3 stone with both babies. I ate relatively healthy and exercised a lot before getting pregnant, so in just the first trimester for both with terrible nausea/sickness, I put on about half a stone from barely moving and eating a lot of bread and crisps. I then basically just ate what I wanted throughout pregnancy, really pigged out! Although I did keep up exercise and also ate lots of fruit, veg and healthy foods. I just also ate a lot of crisps and cake!

MissyPG · 13/06/2020 21:27

With my first I put on 35lbs (was super skinny pre pregnancy) most I’d say was after week 15ish. 2nd I put on 22lbs but was heavier to start (almost a stone 🙈) and put on most after week 20. 16 weeks with 3rd baby and was marginally lighter than I was pre pregnancy with #2 and have gained around 6lbs so far. Hoping for another total weight gain of 22lbs as breastfeeding makes me eat like a horse so I really struggle to lose any additional pregnancy weight.

I think weight gain varies dramatically by person. I had a friend who was overweight pre pregnancy and gained nothing all pregnancy but also have friends who gained 4stone. As long as you and baby are healthy and happy that’s the main thing ❤️

LilyMarshall · 13/06/2020 21:29

I put on just under three stone. I started just over 8 stone and was 11 stone with both at 40 weeks. I lost it Pretty quickly both pregnancies too.

Lucky08 · 13/06/2020 21:32

Started at 176lb. I'm now 31 weeks and around 174lb. I was worried but midwife isn't. She says baby will take what it needs from me and I'll probably gain wait from 34 weeks.

islandislandisland · 13/06/2020 21:42

I'm 24 weeks and have put on a stone and a half too, but I was only about 7st1 before. Never been over about 7st5 in my life. Ive weighed myself weekly for interests sake and it does seem to be slowing up-this week I put on just 1 pound rather than the usual 2-3!

gonewiththerain · 13/06/2020 21:52

A stone and half last time. It went on very gradually. I am slim. Hopefully about the same this time

LBB2020 · 13/06/2020 22:17

I put on around 2.5 stone when pregnant first time. Currently 22 weeks pregnant with DC2 and have gained around 1.5 stone.
I’ve had two family members comment on how huge I am and how there must be more than one in there this week! It’s all bump but it’s making me feel quite insecure Sad

Hatepickinganame · 13/06/2020 22:18

I dont know what i actually weighed before but my guess is ive put on about a stone already at 14 weeks. However my boobs are roughly triple the size i was before so i reckon a lot of its gone there 😂 Last pregnancy (again didnt know my weight at all, this is based on estimates) i think i put on about 4 stone. I was a size 12 (bigger than i was this time, at an 8/10) and went up to a 16 after birth.

Raindancer411 · 13/06/2020 22:42

With both mine I put on 3.5 stone!!! I lost it fairly quickly with the first but was 31 then. This time I am 39 and not sure how it's going to come off. Am only 3 weeks post partum and still for a really flabby and jelly like belly... 😭

BadAlice · 14/06/2020 06:59

About 12kg over pre-pregnancy weight last time which is almost 2 stone. I lost quite a bit in the first trimester though (5kg?) so I did have to put that back on first. DS was a chunk so it was definitely mostly bump!

This time I’m 20 weeks and have gained about 3kg so far but again, I lost 6 or 7kg in the first trimester so had to put that back on first.

Minesril · 14/06/2020 07:10

Can't remember with my first, but it was around 5-6 kg with my second. Didn't really eat any extra, exercised several times a week. Baby was 7 pounds 2. Lost the weight in a week.

postyourlunch · 14/06/2020 07:46

I'm almost 17 weeks and have gained nothing so far, I was overweight to begin with though so I'm happy with this.

I think usually you gain weight the fastest in the second trimester but everyone is very different.

This picture might be helpful.

In my first pregnancy I think I'd already put on at least half a stone by this stage. I gained a total of maybe just under 3 stone the first time, I'm hoping to gain no more than 2 this time.

How much weight did you put on throughout your pregnancy and when did you gain the most?
SpiltMilk100 · 14/06/2020 08:03

4.5 stone the first time. Took me ages to lose it. Put most of it on after 20 weeks. DS1 was only 6lb12 so not like he was big.

2.5 stone the second time around. Put most of it on after about 28 weeks, didn't put much on in the beginning at all, as was very unwell. DS2 was only 5lb8, so again, small. Have lost the half a stone already 2 weeks on. 2 more to go!!

Charlottejade89 · 14/06/2020 08:37

I put on about 2 and half stone last time. I didnt really weigh myself regularly throughout my pregnancy but I didn't have a bump really until I was 20 weeks so I'm guessing most of the weight gain was in the second half. Probably the last month tbh as all i did was eat anything and everything lol. Pregnant with my second now and I weighed about 4 or 5 pounds heavier than I did before dc1 but I havent weighed myself yet I'm too scared lol

Gerdticker · 14/06/2020 08:44

Where you start in terms of BMI makes a big difference (sorry for pointing out the bleeding obvious! Grin)

First pregnancy I started at BMI 21.5, (133lbs)
Gave birth at 170lbs, so a 2.5 stone gain

Second pregnancy I’m now 20 weeks. Started at BMI 22 (140lbs), have gained a stone

My MIL also said (via bloody Skype) “wow you’re going to be HUGE!” Grrrrr Hmm

I do get worried about it occasionally, but I know I lost all the weight last time over about 9-12 months, breastfeeding was a big help, so it should be the same again, right?!

(Have instructed husband to tell MIL never to comment on my size again!!)

Treaclepie19 · 14/06/2020 08:46

Ds1 I put on about a stone in total but was overweight to begin with.
This time I'm 23+4 and have put on 1lb but again, overweight so being careful.

MNnicknameforCVthreads · 14/06/2020 08:47

I put on 2 stone each time. 1.5 stone came off at birth and I lost the other half stone within a month (hungry breast feeding babies helped with this).

I put most of the weight on in the last trimester. I was barely showing in weight or clothes at my 20 week scan.

Yes, I am boasting a bit Blush

Indigogirl88 · 14/06/2020 09:15

I'm the same as you op, started around 134lb and I'm 23 weeks I'm 152lbs so basically the same as you! I lost 2 stone last year so I feel able to deal with the weight loss again. Ive love found it hard putting on the weight though but I'm letting myself off now. Still got a way to go though so I'm thinking another stone but this is my first so who knows!

heroineinahalfshell · 14/06/2020 10:00

I had a BMI of 32 pre-pregnancy. Currently 31 weeks and I've gained 11lb, most of it in the 2nd trimester. I'm pretty happy with that, as I assumed as soon as I got pregnant I'd be a whale. Pretty sure most of the gain has been boobs and bump, as I've gone from a 34F to a 38GG, and I've actually lost weight in my face and arms (thanks to gentle daily exercise and I'm eating healthier, more fruit and fewer carby snacks).

Oreoreo · 14/06/2020 10:41

I’m 22 weeks with my first, I started at 7.5 stone and up to now I’ve put on just over a stone. I think it must all be bump and boobs though because the rest of me doesn’t look that different (I was actually quite surprised when I saw the scales because I don’t think my bump is all that big either)
