Back to pre-pregnancy weight but old clothes no longer fit

I gave birth almost two months ago and am back to my pre-pregnancy weight now, but my old jeans and skirts no longer fit me round the hips. I’m guessing my hips have expanded outwards during pregnancy/birth! Do your hips tend to go back to their normal size eventually, or can I use this as an excuse to buy a whole new wardrobe? Grin

I found I ended up a bit wider than I did pre pregnancy but everything takes a while to shrink back to roughly where it was so while I got back to the same weight easily I was a slightly different shape. After DS I remember thinking my rib cage still felt huge months after.

I had to buy all new shoes as my feet got wider and have never gone back.
Bust size changed forever too.

I was very apple shaped postpartum at the same weight as before-weirdly I lost most of the weight off my bum. Gentle exercise over time (mostly walking, bit of yoga) helped pull my tummy back together, build muscle back op, and generally sort me out. Interesting that you mention your hips-mine weren’t wider after but it did take a while for them to feel stable again-they’ve just come apart to let a baby out after all!

Are you breastfeeding? That can keep things soft. I did start doing abdominal exercise under supervision of an experienced yoga teacher at about 4 months pp but you need to be really sure your tummy muscles have come back together. Eg lying on back and doing leg raises-it also helped to stabilise my pelvis
