6week scan following bleeding and cramps

Thought would post to hopefully put some people’s minds at rest that are going through the same thing.

From my dates I should be 6week 4days today. However I have been for a scan today and dated at 6week 1day and due on 01.02.2021

The reason for my early scan was.. I hard some light bleeding on Thursday, Dark brown/red and last a couple of hours. Only visible when wiping. Sorry TMI.

I then had cramping and very pale pink discharge over the weekend. I called EPU Thursday and was advised to wait it out. As the cramping got worse over the weekend and I lost the first pregnancy symptom I had(breast soreness) I called back and got an early scan for this morning.

I had an ultrasound and could see yolk sack but no baby

I then had an internal scan and after around 5 minutes the Sonographer found the BABYGrin. She saw, Yolk sack, fetal pole and heartbeat. She dated me at 6week 1day.

I know it’s still very early but hope this helps if anyone else is going through this. I had written this pregnancy off and expected to see nothing on the scan.

I’m 27, first pregnancy.

Congratulations on seeing your beautiful baby! I bet that's helped put your mind at rest.

I had a pretty much identical experience to you; bleeding that led to an early scan at seven weeks, where a heartbeat was seen on internal exam. Baby was measured at 6 weeks.

I've continued bleeding ever since, had another scan yesterday at ten weeks and all seemed well, with baby sure enough measuring nine weeks.

The bleeding is worrying but it seems doesn't always mean the worst x

Thank you!
Congratulations to you too! 😊

It was amazing, it is very worrying indeed, I guess we have signed up for a lifetime of worrying now though 🙈

Hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well! Roll on 2021 xx

Thanks for sharing your stories. I am currently experiencing similar, brown / slightly pink discharge when I wipe for 2 days so far. Due mid march so approx 7 weeks. Booked for a private early scan as gp told me to sit and wait it out, im a really anxious person so decided I'd book a scan to help reduce the time waiting! Fingers crossed for my little bean to be as healthy as yours on Sunday :) x

Hi Luhen, fingers crossed for you. When is your private scan booked for?

I called the early pregnancy unit at my local hospital and went through what was happening and they arranged me a scan.. might be worth it for you as i had to have internal.. not sure if private scans offer this :)

I had my 12 week scan on weds and all still looking ok. Wishing you all the luck In the world and hope is good news for you! Xx

Thank you so much - will update on Sunday. I would have preferred to go NHS but the gp wasn't too forthcoming and I'm not very good at asking for things, probably just need to man up! Haha. The private place does do internals so hopefully it will be alright. They seem to be a popular place near us which is positive! Fingers crossed for Sunday xx

I have every crossed for you. Hopefully you’ll have a sticky bean in there ❤️ Xx
