8 weeks pregnant... why did I weigh myself?! *facepalm*

I have gained 3lbs.. 4lbs if you count the one I lost early on. So pretty much a lb gained per week since finding out at 4 weeks 😕

Slightly overweight to being with and now I’m just scared that I’m gonna come out of this pregnancy feeling and looking rubbish. Granted I have been eating what I fancy of the time due to nausea.. so beige food! But didn’t think I’d eaten that much!

Have vowed not to weigh myself again for a few weeks!

I’m using the excuse I haven’t had a proper bowel movement in days (so I must be full of shit!) and that my boobs have grown!

That being said will be taking dogs on an extra long walk today!

Anyone else feeling the same or been where I am now?!

In my first pregnancy I gained 10lbs in the first trimester and only 16lbs overall so don't lose hope. I'm much fatter this time so hoping to keep weight gain less if possible

step away from the scales!

You are growing a human being, concentrate on being happy and healthy, stay as active as you can, drink plenty water.....just don't obsess over the numbers on the scales!

I refused to even look at a set of scales from my booking in appt to my 28 week appt and it really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I am overweight to start with and am very self critical of my body so I knew that constantly checking my weight would not be healthy for me at all.

Seriously, every woman is different. You will drive yourself crazy with this.

I’ve been there!
First of all, don’t beat yourself up; your body is doing a wonderful thing. I was exactly the same as you - I could only eat beige food for the first 16 or so weeks and put on a stone and a half. However, during the second trimester, I began to feel much better so started eating more healthily and went back to my usual exercise routine. I weighed myself on my due date and had only put on just under two stone. I assume I lost some of the ‘beige’ weight, then put it back on as baby, fluid and all of the usual reasons for pregnancy weight gain.
Pregnancy is a difficult time for body image and self esteem. Take care. Flowers

I’m 10+5 and have put on about 1.5kg. I’m on the light side though, and trying not stress about it - it my body thinks it needs the fat, then I’m just going to go with it. I don’t think 3-4pb is loads, but you could always ask your midwife if you’re worried?

I gained most of my weight in the first trimester for some reason and I actually weigh 5kg less than before I got pregnant was a little overweight to start with too so please don't worry ! You put on bloat weight first tri and start holding onto water too
