Getting so frustrated, can anyone tell me if I'm close to Labour?

I'm 40 weeks exactly today. I got my hopes up at the weekend that it was happening. I got major diarrhea, back ache, stomach cramps on Saturday morning. I had shooting pain up my bum that I thought were contractions but they stopped after a say.

The diarrhea went on until this morning, so did all the aches and cramps. I've had constant nausea and heartburn. My midwife thought I might have had a bug and she gave me a sweep this afternoon. She said cervix was really soft, baby was effaced and I was 2cm.

At 5pm, I started getting sharp cramps across the middle of my stomach. I get them every half an hour or so. They haven't got more regular. Sometimes they're stronger, sometimes not so much.

Whats happening? I'm worried it's going to stop again, I just want it to go somewhere!

Anyone had similar?

Sounds like things are gearing up OP! I never went into labour so I can't really comment but I wish you luck for the coming days!

I hope things are quick for you but I've heard a lot of first labours stop and start and take ages.
I had my first contractions on the Wednesday night, they went and came back on Thursday night, they went and came back on Friday night. They got more frequent and I had really bad vomiting and diarrhoea and then my waters broke. I laboured slowly and eventually had an EMCS on Monday morning :/

Thanks @teddybeans Flowers

OMG @GetTheSprinkles, that's a working week! This isn't my first, but DD is now 8. With her, I had a bloody show and cramps at 11pm, things escalated quickly and she was born just before 7am. I just thought I'd KNOW when it was happening
