36+4 mild cramps and back pain! Help!

Hi!

I am 36+4 and last night at around 11:30pm I had cramps in my lower tummy and mild back pains. Quite similar to when my period is due and I get mild pains before it's comes. This only lasted about 30/45 minutes and I went to bed fine. I didn't have any Braxton hicks at the time but this is my first pregnancy so I don't actually notice them as much as other people do. I haven't lost my mucus plug yet but according to the midwife at 35 weeks baby's head was already 3/5 engaged (I know this doesn't effect due date) but since then I think she's dropped lower because my bump has more space at the top...it was all rounded before. I've been nesting like mad these past couple weeks but yesterday I felt a little exhausted and nauseous for a short while!! Could this be the start??? I'm afraid it's too early!!

If you’re worried ring the midwife- they would much prefer you to ring than worry, and if the baby is going to come early they can be warned and come up with a plan

Ring your midwife.

You are nearly full term......please do not worry
If you need reassuring please speak to midwife

37 weeks is considered term, you’re only a few days off. I had my first at 36+5, he was 7lb and absolutely fine other than a bit of jaundice which is very common

It’s not too early if it does happen! But just to reassure you I’ve been having similar for days and no baby yet... (I’m 37 weeks). same with my last baby, I was sure she was on the way and then ended up getting induced. Sounds like you’re in pre-labour and that can last for days or weeks. Good luck Flowers

OP, how did you get on?

Foodx123 · 06/06/2020 18:53

Update: decided not to call the midwife as I haven't had the pains since last night. However, I am feeling quite run down like my energy has been sucked out from me. Yesterday I was obsessing over cleaning everything and today I can't be bothered! Also had a headache which I sorted with paracetamol. If I get pains again I'll be sure to call the midwife! Thanks for your help guys x
