Has anyone lost weight during pregnancy?

My dating scan puts me at 12+2 today (baby all healthy and fine), and finally going out of the first trimester and it looks like I've lost about 3lbs so far from my pre-pregnancy weight.

I've had no vomiting or severe nausea and been eating regularly.
My BMI is in the normal range (pre pregnancy and currently) though I was carrying about 5-10 extra pounds pre-pregnancy (from Christmas and the cold weather 🧀).
My clothes are definitely still feeling tighter (not looser) especially around the waist, thighs and bust.

Has anyone had anything similar?
Should I be worried or is this totally normal from your experiences?

Of course I'll mention this to the midwife at the next appointment if I'm still losing weight by then.

I wouldn't worry about 3lbs in 3 months as it could just be down to you eating better knowing you're pregnant? I lost about 6lbs in the 1st trimester with 1st pregnancy as I was just so sick all the time and couldn't eat at all.
Obviously keep an eye on things and don't aim to lose weight now (not that you were before). Speak to your midwife and let her know your concerns but as long as you're a healthy weight anyway I don't think 3lbs is anything to worry about.
We can fluctuate between 3-6lbs every month anyway with cycles etc.
Good luck and congrats with the pregnancy ♥

I did, I had horrible food aversion (rather than actual sickness). Wen I got weighed the day before my ELCS I was 3kg heavier than my pre preg weight - and had a 4kg baby

However I did a lot of cycling pre preg and had huge thighs - I very quickly lost them in pregnancy so I think some of was lean muscle loss. Were you active pre preg?

It’s all coming back and more as wobble now that I’ve finished BF

Hey ☺️

I've gone down by around 10lbs to 114lbs and I'm 20 weeks. Just had my 20 week scan and baby is perfectly health, all of my bloods have come back perfect too. I'm also high risk and being seen by a specialist. Everyone is happy with me and baby and how we're getting on. However if you're concerned speak to your mw.

I lost some weight initially as I had HG, I was still eating but erratically. I think I lost about...7kg total when I got to my lowest weight (bearing in mind I was only a size 10 to start with). I went back to my pre-pregnancy weight when I was about...18 weeks I think? and steadily gained from there. Interestingly a few months after the birth once I'd gradually lost the extra pregnancy weight I have ended up about 5kg lighter than pre-pregnancy and DD is nearly 2 and I've stayed that weight. We are thinking we will TTC no.2 towards the end of the year so I think I'm going to try and put some weight on then as it's highly likely I will have HG again and I'm already lighter than last time so more weight loss could make me more poorly.

I lost 7lbs in the 1st Tri. Now 21 weeks and still 4lbs down on pre-pregnancy weight. Have a defined and growing bump though so I’m happy with that.

Midwife said it was fine and just to make sure I was eating little and often. Weight is going up now so that’s positive.

I lost weight during my first trimester, pregnancy sickness was a factor but I was losing before that started too.
I was concerned about not gaining much weight compared to my prepregnancy weight so spoke to my midwife at my 28week check up and she said to follow my weight gain from my lowest first trimester weight in which case my weight gain is still not lots is in the normal range.

I have a small build and struggle to gain weight at the best of times an ED past probably contributes. Aside from my growing bump and boobs the rest of me is about the same size as before and bump is on the small side but within normal range which is also how my mum always measured when she was having me.

We all start pregnancy with different bodies I find it daft that as soon as we become pregnant they have to start behaving the same. Monitor your own progress and if you are worried ask your midwife.

So sorry for the late reply!

Thank you everyone! It seems a lot more common than I thought! And of course any concerns I will take to my midwife.

It could well the the no booze (oh god I miss a glass of wine) and general healthier eating that's at work!

I lost weight in my first trimester and maintained in my second. So far in my third I have gained 1.5kg.

No one seems concerned but I had a high BMI to start with.
