Waking up and exhaustion

Hi all, does anyone wake up in the morning and feel so exhausted. I can only describe it like the tiredness you get from your body fighting a bug. Is this normal?

I'm hoping so, that was me this morning as well, Mondays are hard enough eh! I'm 21 weeks though now. How many weeks are you?

sleaterminnie · 01/06/2020 07:48

I've definitely heard this is a thing.

I've been tired in the evening and waking up super early (like 5am), but then I'm only 5 weeks so I think latter is less hormones and more just psychological reaction to the news.

I’m almost 12 weeks. I just feel completely awful when waking up :(

Yes I get this I'm 30 weeks and absolutely knackered, feels like I've not even been to bed. If this is your first rest and sleep as much as possible. Its my second and the first one still wakes me up in the night.

Yes it is my first. Can’t imagine how hard it must be for you

I had this in the first trimester. It went away around second trimester and came back with a vengeance at week 33. Now week 37 and I have about 3 “naps” a day!

RenegadeMrs · 01/06/2020 09:52

Yes. I had this in the first trimester badly, got better around 20 weeks and now am 35 weeks. I don't get the exhausted on waking so much but I am knackered by 3-4pm.

Its quite normal but also worth having your iron levels checked. Turned out I was anemic.

newmumtobe66 · 01/06/2020 10:06

Thank you.

Who checked your iron? Midwife at hospital or community midwife? My Gp seems slightly reluctant to check it I think as they seem to think it is normal pregnancy symptom

Yep! Literally wake up have half a bagel a pregnacare and a peppermint tea, then have a nap lol

13 weeks, and feel like that about half the time with this pregnancy (twins, finding it much more tiring than last time). I think it’s pretty normal. I assume your iron levels were checked at your blood test? I assume you have a multi-vitamin?

I’d really recommend getting out into some early morning sunshine if you can, I’ve found that really helps, and it helped with DD1 too.

With DD1, I went to bed very early some nights, that seemed to help, especially if I’d had a walk first as otherwise I sometimes felt like my body was exhausted but I just couldn’t quite drop off.
