Not dilating but painful contractions

A few days ago I went to the maternity unit as my midwife sent me up as I was having painful contractions every 45 mins and they used a speculum and told me my cervix was closed, I've been getting them every 20-30 mins now and they're getting even more painful with painful twinges in between contractions, what should I do? Just to add I have already lost parts of my mucus plug

Phone maternity assessment and tell them the contractions are getting closer together

@LouiseTrees I will ring up now, just don't wanna go up to be told that I'm not dilated again as I hate the speculum and being examined😂😂

Have you taken any pain relief? If you haven't, do.
If the pains get closer together, or become unbearable (to the point you can't talk when having them), ring the unit.

How many weeks are you? If you're full term then I would wait until the contractions become stronger and more frequent (every 10 minutes) but if you're not yet 37 weeks I'd phone MAU.

It took me well over 24 hours of contractions 4-5 minutes apart ( 1 minute in length) to reach 4 cm’s. I think it was closer to 34 hours or 35 hours . It really sucks . My hospital was great at taking my phone calls so I definitely recommend calling in . They will likely ask you to stay home for the time being though . If you need pain relief though they will bring you in ( or should ) !!

I’m glad you rang up and are now being cared for. Praying that all is well for you and your family. I know it’s early so it’s scary but try to stay strong, you’ll get through this. Flowers
