Need advice, first time mum!

Had Anyone been referred for extra scans in late pregnancy?? And did baby come early?? Had a scan for reduced movements at 30 weeks and everything was fine and she weighed 3lb8... had another episode of reduced movements at 33 weeks and her weight was estimated 4lb8 so I was asked to come back two weeks later for a rescan as there had been a slight dip in her weight! Went for that scan the other day at 35 weeks and her weight was only 5lb so she’s gained half a lb in 2 weeks I think. Also it seemed to have dropped even more than previously. All they could tell me was the Doppler was fine and the placenta and fluid was all in normal ranges so there isn’t much they can do but I’ve been booked in for another scan when I’ll be 37+4. I’ve also been booked in for an appointment at the antenatal clinic after but don’t know what this is for? Does anyone know what would be discussed at this appointment after the scan?? It was soooo hot after waiting so long in the waiting room I couldn’t fully take in what the mw said but it was something along the lines to doing more frequent scans if needed but I was thinking... I will be fullterm by then so starting to wonder whether they’d induce me or something if the growth remains similar - first time mum too!! 💗

Oh hun, I made an account just to come reply to you
I had this last year. After 24 weeks my babies growth went down rapidly and I got scanned every 2 weeks and they checked the placenta every week
They did tell me if growth went below 10% baby would come out at 34 weeks so I mentally prepared myself we’d have a perm baby and they’d stay in NICU a while
But at around 32 weeks the growth just started to pick back up and I had a scan at 37 weeks to check if baby should come out then, I’d also been in for reduced feral movements a lot
It was the worst pregnancy so scary and at one point when growth was so low they did say perhaps baby had a condition which hadn’t come up on scans but then growth was up
The midwife did constantly reassure me they can’t exactly tell from scans and the growth percentiles
The appointment after is usually for a consultant up review growth and discuss with you
Since my baby had grown but reduced feral movements they offered to book in an induction for my due date but I waited one week
Baby was born on 23rd percentile and now at almost 1 is on the 91st!
Baby was a lot bigger than they expected

Hello!

Yes I did when I was pregnant with my daughter.

My bump didn’t grow between my 32 and 34 week measure so was referred for a growth scan.
Had one the next day and was told baby was healthy just small but needed to come back for another scan at 36 weeks.

When I had my second scan her tummy hadn’t grown between the two scans and her estimate weight was 5lb 7oz. I was referred to my maternity unit and they decided to induce me the next day as I was 37 weeks.

My daughter was born a couple of long days later! Weighing 5lb 15oz so 9th centile but she’s now 16months old and in 75th centile weighing around 23lb. She was walking before her first birthday and is taking and running now!

It’s such a worrying time, I was so scared in those few weeks. But you’re in the best hands, and the midwifes and doctors will do everything that’s best for your baby. They will try and not induce before 37 weeks and like you said maybe more frequent scans.

Hope all goes well, keep us updated!x

One other thing to remember is weights by scans are so variable, I know so many people who have been told they will have small babies and have normal weights and people who will have big babies and they have actually been small!

5 weeks is alot of growing time still! Good luck!

I had to have a few growth scans, the first two were to see if he was gonna be too big and the last one was because they were concerned he had stopped growing.
Because they thought he had (scan said he was 7lb at 38 weeks but 4 weeks before had said the same thing) they gave me a sweep and I went into labour a few days later.
He was absolutely fine but was only 6lbs 4oz. That means the scan was wrong but they weren't wrong about him being small.
I'm sure everything will be fine for you! I had suspected preeclampsia so thats why.
