  1. third babies pop out in no time!!!

  2. third babies are normally early!!!

  3. third babies are easy and fit in with anything!!

45 mins plus half an hour when I stayed as still as possible after the first contraction because I had to wait for the midwife to get to me from miles away! I refused to allow my body to have another contraction. Pushing was about 5 or 10 mins as far as I can recall. Hmmm... was 4 years ago in a matter of hours

pagwatch · 21/09/2007 13:36

3rd DC was 1 hour and 25 mins from 1st contraction to delivery. Nearly born in the car park of the hosp. But all babes were very fast - first was 3 hours and 15 mins from 1st twinge to birth.

Piffle · 21/09/2007 13:39

1st was 1hr 10 mins 14 days overdue
2nd was 45 mins 14 days early
3rd was 10 hrs overnight, stop start, emergnecy hospital transfer from planned homebirth.
one day before his edd
he is an easy baby though

honeyapple · 21/09/2007 13:42

Oohhh! Good thread Greedy- I'm hoping for a quicker one third time around (please).

DS1 24+ hours can't remember how many exactly!

DD 8 hours

DS2 QUICK PLEASE!

greedygreedyguzzler · 21/09/2007 14:24

who said 11 mins? OMG!!!! dh works 1 1/2 hours away......................guess my ds would just have to deliver it if it happened that quickly!!!..................do you think that is too much to ask of a 4yr old???!!!

  1. no his head was loads bigger than theothers and he was 2lb heavier than the other 2! so although first stage of labour was the same as No2 and much quicker than No 1, the 2nd stage was longer.
  2. No1 came on due date, No2 a week early, No 3 came at 40 +2
  3. he was easy as a small baby but is a fearless, independent, stubborn toddler- much more so than the others! but agreat character.
chankins · 21/09/2007 20:13

Hello - my third was my quickest but definetly my hardest and most painful as I didn't need stitches with the first two. Midwives have said second is normally faster and quicker (true for me) but third are unpredictable! True for me too, as he was the only one who went past my due date. He was only fastest by fifteen mins and I think that was due to me trying so bloody hard to get him out cos it hurt so much more! But he is the easiest so far and fits right in, and having three is no harder than two really. He's been an angel from the start!

oooggs · 21/09/2007 20:17

ds1 - 24hrs

dd - 4hrs 20mins

ds2 - 19 mins after dd

Pollyanna · 21/09/2007 20:19

my 3rd labour was my most difficult.

my 3rd baby was about 8 days late I think

but she is the most easy going out of all of my children.

fihi · 21/09/2007 20:37

heard the same as u chankins - third ones are unpredictable / awkward / never what u think when it comes to labour &birth. i agree... i just wish they'd told me that BEFORE i was in 'slow labour' with her.I was actually sitting in hospital bed on monitors when they told me that little gem of info. At least you're forewarned, GGG!

scienceteacher · 21/09/2007 20:39

I had a long latent phase with my third, but when labour became active, she was out like a bullet.

Spidermama · 21/09/2007 20:40

Mine popped out easily in no time. An absolute breeze. I had him at home though so wasn't worried about having to get anywhere.

greedygreedyguzzler · 22/09/2007 08:54

ok.........i'm getting more and more scared now!!!

harleyd · 22/09/2007 09:29

sure, once it starts you will be too busy to be scared

jamila169 · 28/09/2007 09:25

Here's hoping you have one like my 3rd GG!
8am contractions start
9am midwife calls in to check - 4cm so it's the real Mcoy
9.30 can't feel contractions at all - midwife says are you sure cos i can see them happening!
9.30am - 11 pm no idea whats happening cos still can't feel anything though midwives can see contractions even through my dressing gown so just having a giggle, watered my greenhouse, had a chat with next door neighbour etc
11:30 pm bang! 3 huge contractions baby born - 1 more placenta born ,tucked up on sofa with new baby and cup of tea by midnight
and no- I'd never have got away with it in hospital

From one GGG to another.

She came on her due date.

I only had gas and air.

She came out in a glorious gush with the waters.

She was a delightful limpet baby and is a gorgeous and feisty 11 year old.

Bonne chance!

3madboys · 28/09/2007 09:35

niggly contractions on and off for ages, once labour did start tho it was all over within 3hours, my waters broke at about 5pm, no contractions till 2am when i woke up with them, ds3 was born by 5am after 3hrs of contractions, had gas and air, then 3 pushes, 9lb 5oz, no stiches etc just a graze

notolerance · 28/09/2007 09:38

DD1 induced & then 5 hours labour
DD2 50 mins from 1st niggle to popping out! Was then v.nervous re no.3 coming too fast, she came in 1hr 10mins on her due date.
Good Luck

indiasmum · 28/09/2007 09:43

1-induced then 6 hr labour but no drugs and lovely as it could be (far cry for dcs1 +2)
2-she was 2 weeks overdue
3-she was a very content easy baby- a feisty toddler now hey ho!

PussinWellies · 28/09/2007 14:51
  1. Induced, but arrived half an hour later (notes say 'Second stage labour: 4 minutes...)
2. Week overdue 3. Used to be a doddle -- we called her the Snoozy Floozy.

Is now (ahem) a very strong personality.

Good luck!

mrsjetson · 28/09/2007 15:08

ds1 2 days - the whole drug store ending in epidural
ds2 1 day - epidural
dd1 just under 4 hours - in teh hospital for 40 minutes with only gas and air.
dd2 - we'll have to wait another 5 weeks to see. The MW's say a lot quicker than DD1 as I am already 4 cms dilated!!

zubb · 28/09/2007 15:12

well, ds3 was 4 days late, but did pop out in under an hour (from first contraction to birth), and does fit in with everything.
But ds1 was only just over 2 hours, and ds2 was about an hour and a half, so they were all quick.
