Telephone booking appointment today, what to expect?

Finally the midwife is ringing me today for my booking appointment. I’m hoping I’ll have a date for my first scan soon! Just wondered what everyone’s experience was like with the telephone call and what happens?

Questions about you and the dad, any medical history, where you want to deliver, advice on vitamins to take, explain the midwifery system and appointments and then any questions you've got. I got sent my scan date along with other appointments I need within a couple of days of the booking app.

@Pjk1996 I think it very much depends on your location to be honest - I’ve seen people on here having long phone calls and getting loads of info about services. Mine was only 10/15 minutes just asking mine and my partners medical history, any medical conditions in the family, and any issues with previous pregnancies if there has been any. Then just all the usual - do you drink/smoke/take drugs? Any involvement from social services? Were you trying to conceive and if so, how long did it take? Would I want screening for Downs Syndrome etc and would I want the flu/whooping cough vaccinations. And first day of last period so they could work out dates.

Just a whole list of yes/no questions really 😊 then I got a letter through with a scan date for a few weeks later and had my bloods taken, BP check, Irvine sample taken and was given my pregnancy notes after the scan.

My appointment on the phone was very thorough and lasted about an hour so it definitely depends on location! It was lots of yes or no questions about health and medical history so nothing too difficult😁 She let me know what to expect at each appointment and scan as well as I had told her how nervous I was. I then got my scan date in the post a week later and at the 12 week scan had a urine sample and blood test xx
