13 weeks or 14 weeks? Which date to go by?

Please can anyone help, according to the date of my last period I’m 13 weeks today. But from my scan a few weeks ago I am measuring as 14 weeks from tomorrow. Which date would you go by? I don’t know if I should be saying I’m 13 or 14 weeks! What would you do?

You go by your NHS dating scan so 14 weeks x

Your dating scan gives you official date so 14 weeks tomorrow is correct.

Very few scans continue with the same date as the LMP gives so LMP is only used prior to the dating scan to give a rough idea.

Your dating scan.

The date from LMP is just to give an early estimate but it's based on the average 28 say cycle with ovulation on day 14. Obviously, not every woman has an average cycle so most end up a bit ahead or a bit behind.

The dating scan is based on actual measurements so is generally more accurate. Mine was about 5 days different to LMP which is right for me as I'm in a LDR so know from the dates I was with OH that I conceived/ovulated a bit later.

Thank you all. I’ll go with the 14 weeks then! Happier to be a week ahead of where I thought I was! Second pregnancy that’s got this far, fifth pregnancy overall. Finally allowing myself to get excited as all was well at the scan! x
