Hi everyone,

Just wondering what people think the situation will be with giving birth in late July early August. I am due on 29th July and wondering if anybody else due around this time has any ideas on what they think the rules will be like in hospitals by then.

Thanks for any thoughts 😊

I have no idea. I'm due 13th Aug but having a ELCS at 38/39 weeks so will be early Aug.

I'm literally praying that flights have started up by then as OH is in another country on lockdown and we don't even know if he'll be able to be at the birth.

As for hospitals, I really don't know. I had an appointment yesterday and the nurse taking my bloods and BP said they think some things might stick indefinitely as they have worked so much better....things like telephone appointments. She also said they'd probably keep visitor numbers down by being more strict about 1 partner only at scans and births etc.

I like to think the rules around birthing partners will relax a bit but I think (hope) the main thing that will improve is actually being able to see family afterwards instead of introducing your new born through a window or something.

I have a doula friend who says that many hospitals are already making plans to start returning to some sort of normality for antenatal / birth care . Fingers crossed!

I'm due the same day Smile

I asked about this at my last consultant appointment (re birth partners etc) and she just said there's no point talking about it as it's so far off and things can change so fast. Not very helpful I'm afraid! Tbh I'm planning on the assumption that things will stay as they are.. 🤞 they don't get any worse and if it's better that's a bonus.

Im having an elective section on 24th August (so a bit later) and my consultant says she is confident things will have settled right down with regards to restrictions etc by then. Although who can predict- its a nightmare time to have a baby!
