Food poisoning? 11 weeks pregnant and a bit worried

Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone has any advice. I'm 11+3 and this morning woke up with stomach cramps and ran to the bathroom. I had the worst diarrhea, was drenched in sweat, like dripping into the floor drenched in sweat, and felt I was going to projectile vomit for about 20 minutes but didn't throw up thankfully. Everything seems to have settled down now, I've had a few pinchy cramps and I'm keeping down water fine. Does that sound like food poisoning? Should I call the doctor? It was really wierd!

See how it goes the gp may want to do a urine test to check your ketones? I had a sickness bug in my first pregnancy and that's what they checked for x

I hope you're feeling better now. I had food poisoning when I was about 12 weeks - violently sick and off tummy - I was fine although I did call 111 who asked me to come in but I decided not to as the sickness had subsided.

Sounds like you've eaten something a bit dodgy OP!
I'd give it 24 hours and if things are no better then speak to your doctor about it.
Best to be safe than sorry! Hope you feel better soon x

Thanks for the advice Smile I have actually felt fine all day since except I've been getting cramps low down and front, like sharp period cramps, on and off since lunch time. My stomach has settled, I can eat and drink and just have regular first trimester nausea. No idea what's going on. I'm now more concerned about the cramps than the upset stomach! I think I might call the EPU or 111 and see if I can get some reassurance from then.

@lockdownpregnancy I'm currently blaming some Sainsburys gluten free breaded chicken breasts that were on their last use by day. Usually it's fine, but I might have to make sure everything is comfortably in date from now on.

Chicken will do it every time OP if it's undercooked or slightly off! 🤢
I'd say the cramps are from having a poorly stomach but do give NHS 111 a call if you are concerned. However, if it was me I'd call the EPU ward as they will have you straight in to check everything with baby is ok 👍🏻
