Small rant about people who don't distance

Had to pop to gp surgery today to see midwide and honestly the people not social distancing was doing my nut in.

Firstly you now have to enter through the back door. You get buzzed in and then are meant to go to end of corridor to await being buzzed in at the next door by a staff member to give you a mask n gloves and a temp reading. This woman in front of me instead of going to the 2nd second door had chosen to wait in the blooming entrance doorway i had just been buzzed in for, so I had to stand outside holding the door open until she moved.

Then when I did get in to the doorway to get the mask etc on this old man who entered just basically waltzed up and stood behind my arse asking to be let in! The staff member told him he would have to go back to the other door and wait because she was sorting me out first.

I then go to reception and wait for the lady on the phone to book me in. Same blooming old man walked up and barged me out the way so he could try and get her attention! Receptionist wasn't having any of that luckily, and she had to direct him and other people where to sit to adhere to the distanced seating, never mind point out to people all the sign posts everywhere telling people where to go, keep distance etc.

So glad antenatal unit at the hospital was different, and the mum's used their common sense. This is why I have no qualms about the whole use masks and gloves procedures in place because some people just seem to be clueless

I hear you OP! I had to go to a chemist yesterday to pick up antibiotics and was getting so frustrated at people being unable to read the 'only 2 inside at any one time' signs.... 3 people barged past me to try and get in despite me clearly standing waiting on the footprints outside!
Then when I was inside, some guy came and stood right behind me and the pharmacist had to ask him to stand back.

How will we ever beat this when people can't manage even the simplest social distancing instructions?

I took my dog to the vet yesterday and while I was trying to put her back into her car crate a lady came barging over and started stroking my dog telling me she's gorgeous. Yes she is. She is still gorgeous from a 2m distance!!!!

I actually had to say, excuse me you need to distance yourself. Being 8 months pregnant it was the only trip I've done since lockdown as the dog needed the vets and my partner had to work, and if that's what it's like out there I'm not going back outside!!!! No common sense anywhere!

😫

It's so frustrating isn't it? This is what makes me nervous about easing lockdown, as much as I want to be able to go to shops etc. I feel far too anxious to. I'm pretty much staying in now unless it's for medical appointment or a walk around the field when I can see its empty x

It’s quite counter intuitive though. I ran into a friend I haven’t seen in a while today and we hugged. It was only after I walked off that I realised what we’d done.

I get annoyed when I'm walking (quiet residential streets, thankfully), I'm obviously pregnant, and it's ALWAYS me who steps into the street to keep the 2m distance. And half the time they don't even bother to keep to their side of the pavement, just blithely walk straight down the middle Angry Angry Angry

I think people are getting much worse with it as well. It's like because they've been fine up to this point they suddenly think it's OK to not socially distance.

I'm going for a socially distanced walk with my mum next week as I haven't seen her since March, and I've had to be so strict with her because she keeps saying 'oh I'll try and stick to the social distancing'. No mum, you WILL stick to the social distancing or I'm going home!! I haven't come this far to just fold now!

I had a small yell at a man in the supermarket last week because he physically pushed past me and then leaned over me at another point. I'm not into that level of personal space invasion even in the best of times!

On the other hand I do find that going out for a walk with a toddler generally has people leaping into bushes to avoid him.
