So as in the description, I have had 2 pregnancies induced labours one at 38 weeks as they weren't monitoring me but went in for 2 separate growth scans 5 weeks apart as abdomen measured small baby hadn't grown at all in 5 weeks. Next pregnancy I was monitored and ended up being induced at 35 weeks due to baby not growing. I'm pregnant again and been told I will be consultant led care, I'm 16 weeks today just wondering if anyone else has similar experiences and at what stage did you start seeing consultant? I've not heard from a consultant yet and midwife appointments are limited now so I may not see a midwife until at least 24 weeks! Thanks in advance xxx

Hi, I had an IUGR baby for my 1st and saw a consultant at 16 weeks for the 2nd. Maybe get back in touch with your midwife and just ask the question as id have hoped you would have at least had some form of contact about future appointments by now. Has your midwife suggested you take aspirin?

I’d second aspirin, recommended for previous growth restriction - you need to start taking it ASAP if not already on it, it doesn’t have any effect if started after 20 weeks (your GP should be able to do this if midwife can’t).
Other than that your care would likely be similar to last oregnancy. There’s an extra measurement called uterine artery dopplers that can be done at the time of your 20 week scan, which may help predict how likely it is you’ll have an issue again - but probably wouldn’t change the plan. generally you’d be offered roughly 4 weekly scans, 28/32/36/40 weeks, perhaps more if there are extra concerns.
The only other thing to change is definitely stop smoking (partner too) if you are. It’s the one thing you have some control over!
Aspirin is the only urgent thing - everything else could be sorted after 24 weeks.
Good luck x

Thanks for your replies, no my midwife has never mentioned aspirin! I will call my GP today. And I will call midwife to chase consultant appointment up. I can't remember when I saw consultant last pregnancy I've got an9 year gap! 🤦🏼‍♀️ neither myself or husband are smokers anyway. I'm preying it doesn't happen again this time but I suppose the likeliness is it will! 😞

I had an iugr baby and my consultant said I would be on clexane if I got pregnant again (I was already on aspirin).

TenThousandSpoons0 · 19/05/2020 07:50

No evidence for clexane for IUGR unless there’s something else going on in the background ( @eurochick not trying to contradict your consultant just don’t want OP to panic about needing clexane too!)

Thanks guys I'm waiting for a call back from my GP and my midwife! Hoping I haven't missed anything. So worried I should have been taking aspirin before I cant believe my midwife has never mentioned it!! 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ xx
