First scan tomorrow!!

I have my first scan tomorrow (10wk 0 days) booked privately with WTTW so we could get some reassurance and finally tell our parents with a scan picture.

Anxiety/nerves/excitement starting to kick in!! The website says due to COVID-19 you should come alone but can bring one adult if absolutely necessary. I'm guessing my partner can be part of the absolutely necessary considering it's our first pregnancy and we want to experience the scan together Hmm

Praying for a clear pic and a healthy baby, going to drink plenty of water beforehand!! Anybody have any other tips?

Is it Window to the Womb? I had an early 10 week scan there about 3 weeks ago and yes they let DH come in, I emailed ahead to check. It’s quite different to a hospital setting as just the waiting room and scan room, we had to wait outside until just before so only one couple was in there at a time, they had hand gel and gave me a mask. All good. I get why they have a different protocol to hospitals, it’s a different environment. It was totally worth it.

Hope it goes well Smile

@BuffaloCauliflower it is yeah! I know the NHS aren't allowing partners in which is understandable but yeah I was hoping a private practice would be different. Thanks so much for your reassurance and congrats on your pregnancy! ☺️ x

@lozpants i went for a WTTW scan on Sunday at 10 weeks 4 days and they let my husband in. Just made us wash our hands as we went in.

I didn't want the first scan to be without my husband! Hope this helps!!

newmumtobe66 · 18/05/2020 20:10

My partner came when I went and understand why you want them there :)

MichelleOR84 · 18/05/2020 20:16

I’ve had two scans with window to womb recently and I saw other couples there 🤷‍♀️! I couldn’t bring my husband though as he was minding our son .

So you might be able to bring your partner. It might depend on the location .

Mp0304 · 18/05/2020 20:35

Wow some people's comments!

I would take your partner. My partner has not be to any scans and will not be allowed at my 20 week in 2 weeks time.
However when I went to my 16 scan with Window to the Womb (on my own) everyone had their partners with them, nothing was mentioned, they are following good safety measures and I did not feel unsafe, so take him and enjoy the special moment. I will be booking a private scan after my 20 week scan and will be bringing my partner along with me.
Good luck and congratulations 💖

Good luck -I think the fact that you are paying For a private scan then you are more likely to be able to take your partner. Sorry you received some rather unnecessary and harsh comments. Not sure why!

Lily2020 · 18/05/2020 21:03

Good luck @lozpants! Baffled by the passive aggressive nature of some comments on this thread! Let us know how you get on! 😊

LuckyWright · 18/05/2020 21:16

I went to WTTE few weeks back and my husband was allowed in with me. They just said on the phone I was allowed a plus 1. They didn't say about it being only if absolutely essential etc
Good luck tomorrow and congratulations!!

Sls668 · 18/05/2020 21:17

We chose WTTW because they were allowing partners. I rang to double check so I would say do that to avoid disappointment when you get there but ours was about 6 weeks ago and partner was very much welcomed in as baby’s dad.
I understand why places aren’t but it’s actually the only part of the pregnancy so far he’s been allowed to be involved with so it was really nice

LuckyWright · 18/05/2020 21:18

I meant WTTW! Not WTTE on my post!

Newmummyxx · 18/05/2020 21:21

@lozpants Im a first time Mam and also visited a WTTW a few weeks ago with my boyfriend. Good luck for tomorrow, I’m at my 13 week nhs scan tomorrow and feeling a little nervous.

FluffyBunnyTails · 18/05/2020 21:34

I went to WTTW 3 weeks ago for an early scan and my husband was only allowed to stay in the waiting room but wasn't allowed to come into the scan with me. I've seen other branches have allowed partners in so it seems it varies on which one you go to.

It was absolutely fine and I found them really professional and great.

Pink15 · 18/05/2020 21:46

I had a scan at window to the womb a few weeks ago and they let my partner in :) I think they let you decide if nesecary as lots of reasons - I wanted him there as I was so anxious and it's our first baby :) they were very professional and very good at social distancing and hand hygiene x

grace1991 · 18/05/2020 22:39

Well @BeingATwatItsABingThing is an idiot.
A rude obnoxious idiot
Congratulations to you and I'm sure they will let your partner in!
Hope it all goes well. Xxxxx

@BeingATwatItsABingThing don't comment if you can't be kind

FourPlasticRings · 18/05/2020 22:47

Empty your bladder an hour beforehand. Then drink as close to 1 litre of water as you can. You'll probably be a bit uncomfortable for the scan but it should stop you needing a transvaginal one.

Elmlee · 18/05/2020 22:52

Good luck for your scan.
I went on 12th for a scan to my local WTTW... I got the same automated email. My husband dropped me off and walked in with me and I asked if he was ok to come in. The ladies were lovely. I hope your branch allow him in 😊

denbyellie · 18/05/2020 23:39

Don't understand why people are being rude to you, of course you want him there and scans are essential for the father child bonding process just unfortunately not essential medically :( I know how u feel 20 week scan partner wasn't allowed :( xx

lozpants · 19/05/2020 08:32

Thank you so much everyone for the lovely helpful comments, and @grace1991 for sticking up for me. I'm super glad it wasn't just me being sensitive!

Feeling a little more relaxed today and excited, I have emailed WTTW to double check but seems as though it'll be no problem given everyone else's scans Grin I'll keep you all updated with how it goes!

Thanks again xxx

bluemoon2468 · 19/05/2020 08:39

I had a scan at window to the womb recently and decided to take my husband - so glad I did because every single woman I saw down there had a partner with them!

lozpants · 19/05/2020 22:25

Hi guys thanks for all of your lovely messages, little update, saw bean today on internal scan as sonographer thinks I'm a week less than I thought I was from my dates, but all absolutely fine and excited Grin

My partner was allowed in with no fuss or problems so a big.... to those who had a go at me for asking the question!
